It is more likely to have made it to the carbs than not, and it is not far from there to your inlet manifold.

Thank you all for your advice.

So finally, I have rebuilt the carbs (full of a sand-like substance) and cleaned (and sealed) the fuel tank.

She now starts and has excellent pull while accelerating.

However, she now smokes (Grey/white) excessively, slightly more smoke while idling, but with any sort of throttle, generates a cloud.

Could I have just messed up the timing? I have used a vacuum gauge which reads 0.1 bar at idle, which makes me think the intake manifold is leaking. Taking off the oil filler cap, the vacuum just pulls it down, so I'm thinking the rings are ok and adds to me thinking that the intake manifold is bad.

You used a vacuum gauge to set the timing?

The pulley has gradual increments and the distributor has micrometer adjustment. So setting statically is quite effective. If the inlet manifold is leaking it will be sucking from atmosphere or at worst sucking coolant.

Pressure test cooling system or run without the pressure cap.
Put your finger inside the servo and check for fluid.

White or light coloured smoke typically isn't oil.

No, just to check the Vacuum to diagnose the smoke.

Going to check the brake servo tomorrow to see if that could be getting sucked in too.
