Hi
Can anyone tell me the needle part number on a stromberg cd175?the mixture adjustment is done through the top rather than the bottom. I’ve looked for rebuild kits and can only find them for a stag?
Thanks Matt

It depends on precisely which model you have:

B1DW
B1EW or AEU1476
B1FK

I started a whole thread on this subject a while ago, for what it's worth - if you can be bothered to read it, you might wish you hadn't by the end!:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2019

I've pretty much forgotten about it - my trucks go well enough as is and I'm now down to just a couple of years before I no longer have to worry about MOT emissions testing (if they don't change the rules again)

Thanks for that. It gets a bit complicated!no mention of The B1eu needles I was told I needed. I gave him the numbers on the brass tags and that’s what he came up with. Hopefully they’ll be ok

Have you looked here:

http://zenithcarb.co.uk/cf/vehicle/list ... vehicle=V8

B1EU is listed in Burlen's Zenith CD Carb Needle Profile Charts but I don't see it being specified for any of the V8s listed on that page. Could you have misheard B!EW as B1EU? B1EW is the metering needle specified for the first two carb specs shown in that list. You might want to query it. What were the numbers on the brass tags? If map1275 is right (above) that B1EW is AEU1476 (and he generally knows what he's talking about) that's the needle shown in the Series 3 Parts Book and so presumably the needle for at least the original Stage 1 home market spec engine and carbs.

The tag numbers were 3947L and 3947R.i could have misheard him. I’ll ring them and check. Thanks for the help

Burlen specify needle B1EW for that carb spec number. Probably you misheard.

http://zenithcarb.co.uk/carbspec/carbur ... s/id/3771/

Do you know yet what needles you already have in your carbs? (the number should be engraved on the needle, though you'll need a decent magnifying glass to read it)

Just noticed some of their webpages are showing B1EW temporarily out of stock, though this page isn't:

http://zenithcarb.co.uk/b1ew-metering-needle.html

If they want to give you B1EU, maybe that's why. I'd query it. If you're interested in exactly what the difference is, you can order their Zenith Carb Needle Profile Chart I referred to above.

And two different prices for what appears to be the same needle!:

http://zenithcarb.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=B1EW

I'd definitely query it. AEU1476 appears to be available elsewhere (at least LR Series apparently have a stock) but for considerably more money:

I took the needles out and they are B1EW as you said.
