Got mine in today. I need to order a new temp control cable though. Someone chopped the old one off short.

When it is all done, I'll take pics.

Digging this old thread up.....

I just got my heater valve in the mail today. It looks great. Would be great-er if the hose fittings had barbs built into them - but it probably does not matter.

I am gathering my bits together to install this and I see that I am missing everything that goes on the end of the adjustment cable. I have the cable - but not the flat metal fitting that clips the cable into the heater valve assembly and I do not have the bits on the end of the wire that thread through the heater valve eyelet.

I can probably fabricate up these parts (or find something at the local hardware store that is close enough). The flat metal bit has me stumped though. Does anything have a photo of the full part? I could not find a diagram in my parts manual. I can't figure out its shape and how it clips into the heater valve assembly.

Thanks!

Found some leads on parts, page 1J 10 of the Series 3 Optional Parts Catalogue lists the parts and numbers, but helpfully has no helpful illustration like every other listing in there!

Bracket heater valve is ERC3484

Cable assembly, water valve operation RH Stg , 347941

Clip heater control cable CRC 1250

Much of it sounds like standard series3 heater kit.

No luck so far sourcing parts listed above on websites, have gone for a defender cable and some fabricating, unless someone can come up golden with a source on here

David,

I have a Bracket and think a clip at work.

Will have a look today when I am in.

If you drop me a email info@designdevelopmenteng.co.uk

Could also make a batch as there is a few people missing this part.

I’ve just fitted one of these control valves.i can’t seem to get the heater to run cool.probably something I’ve done wrong . Is the heat supposed to be off when the lever is closed to the body of the valve?

Does anyone know the official part number for this valve? Was it used in anything besides the Stage One? (Like the 101?)

This is unique to the Stage 1. Your best bet is to get one from Bryan at Design Development. I bought one and it's the bees knees. They are repairable too.

Also, make sure you flush the engine and heater matrix before installing.

Alan -

Thanks - but I was just looking for the pet number for another reason. I bought one of Bryan’s parts a few years ago.

It's ERC3564 - Heater valve assembly - listed on page 1J10 of the Optional Equipment Parts Catalogue, helpfully with no picture.

Don't know about other vehicles, but I doubt it. I think Alan is right - it's listed in the above catalogue as for the 109 V8 - it's certainly not in the early 110 parts book.

I never understand what the fuss is over these valves. It was already removed from my first Stage 1 when I bought it 25 years ago and I've never missed it. Removed a jammed and leaking one from my second a few years ago and instantly cured my intermittent overheating problem. In this country at least you either want the blower on with heat or you can turn the blower off and open a vent/s or window/s. I've never had a need for it.

Thanks. The Land Rover club is working on a trivia project and this helps.
