SU carbs

Post by Chris_G »

Hello,

I can buy a pair of new SU carbs including a manifold for a very nice price.
Buy these carbs have the automatic choke (FASD) system. Is it possible to USD this
on a stage one?

Another question about my ignition, I've switched to an electronic distributor from
a RRC 3.5 efi. I'm running a different camshaft (crower 50229). Doen someone know
What is the best ignition timing for this one?

Thanks
Chris

IF you did want to use the FASD ( Fully Automatic Starting Device ) you would also have to get the FASD Control Module from inside the dashboard, It is also a blue plastic lump.

The FASD has a crystal inside it that vibrates very quickly to control the cold start mixture, these crystals usually crack and stop working among many other problems they have.

I would suggest leaving the FASD carbs alone and go and look for something else, there are good reasons why Rover only used these things for a very short time before replacing them with Stepper Motor SU's.
