engine & gearbox

Post by 88 stage1 »

While i have the engine and box out is there anything worth checking or changing apart from oil and filters? The clutch looks worn, so think a new 1 will be going in. Chris.

Check the condition of the shafts and bearings in the gearbox.

Replace the clutch oil seals.

Drain and check the diffs.

You pulling the engine down?

Whilst the engine is out, the one thing that everyone neglects is the cooling system.
If the radiator is not in tip top condition, it is very easy to over temp the engine, a condition that the V8 does not like at all!!
Make sure ALL the hoses are in good condition with no cracks, and use a good quality hose clamps!!
Also a good time to clean the engine bay as well
