Some General Questions

Post by 5988 »

As im missing virtualy everything that should live under a S1 bonnet-

Does a Radiator from any other landrover fit? how does it attch to the vehicle-is there a frame for it or does it bolt directly to the front?
What should the air cleaner/intakes be like. Some seem to be like the RR set up and others have a big can with some piping to the carbs-did they change at a set time?
Do they have a mechanical fuel pump on the engine? or electirc somewhere

how much different is a RR engine, as i have access to one from a 81 RR that seems reasonable..hoping to get the proper engine but PO says its dead

could someone get some under bonnet pics so i can see where everyrthing goes...ive got 2 empty wings and nothing on the bukhead..no front pannel or engine, so no idea what should even be there

can exhaust sytems be got from anywhere?

oh and the S1 is an 81 as well

You haven't said which model Stage One you have. This will determine the answer to some of the questions.

I think you should start by downloading the parts list from this site. Then check the VIN break down.

Radiator is unique but I suspect the core is common with something else. Sits on pegs and grommets.

Electric fuel pump.

Engine is generally the same as concurrent low compression Range Rover. Once again, you haven't stated what model Stage One you have.

Exhaust systems depend on where you are in the world. Australia is a joke, in the UK everything is on the shelf with a choice of brands.

Hiya
Pretty sure i have a rad from a petrol 90 in mine. I put a piece of Dexion along the bottom to pick up the bottom pins and fixed the top with M6 bolts. Its a bit taller as the bonnet stay has worn a grove in the brass filler bolt on top of the rad.Works a treat and not 250 POunds.

WOOOOO! I have been mentioned ^^^ to help someone!! hehe!

I can take some more picture of mine under the bonnet if you would like, however, I'm not entirely sure that it is all in the correct place (for example my washer bottle isn't mounted at all, and is just shoved under the wing! As long as it doesnt go anywhere that'll do!)

Ollie :)
Now on the road, and loving it!!!! =)

Strongly advise that you grab the Series III Owners Repair Manual and a copy of the Series III V8 Supplement. All available from this site.

They will tell you what needs to go where and includes a number of variations too. Then if need it, grab the Parts Catalogue.
