Perhaps it was the original "pink panther" , the desert land rover???

It is an Ex motor show vehicle built for the 1980 show but taken off the stand again because they were worried everyone would want one. the inside is not pink it is Regency red and grey using P5 and P6 trim materials. the exterior is a jaguar colour. It was built especially for the show with no visible spotwelds and chrome instead of galvanising.It even has chrome wheels.It was a non runner but i got it running yesterday and it drives really well. It will look great when I have spruced it up a bit.

That is interesting. I do like the colour actually. Better than the 80's pastels chosen for the Stage 1. Could be well worth sending an email to LRO, they like these kinds of rarity.
