Rear Cross member

Post by Mrs Bingham »

Can anyone recommend a decent supplier and brand for a rear crossmember? I’ve seen the usual on-line stuff but not sure which ones are good and which ones to avoid. Price varies quite a lot as well so am I correct in assuming that there are several manufacturers or are the retailer’s not paying attention?

Many Thanks Mark…

I'm not one for promoting suppliers but I will mention this firm - GDI Products

I am currently having a new rear crossmember fitted by a land Rover specialist and I supplied my own crossmember from GDI Products - link below. Even before it was sent to be fitted the quality of this thing was way better than other ones I've seen. One nice touch is that the centre body mount is a piece of angled steel replicating the original, unlike all the others I've seen which are a flat plate. Insignificant maybe, but it doesn't fowl the towing drop plate if fitted :)

The guy installing it also says that it is one of the best fits he's seen in a long time; everything lines up perfectly.

Following Mrs Bingham's above recommendation, bought one of GDI's rear crossmembers with extensions. Fitted without too much trouble (certainly compared to most Britpart ones apparently) and they were certainly more than reasonable to deal with.
