I made a bad mistake - thinking I could set up a Land Rover restoration business and a V8 club at the same time. The business took off a bit faster than I expected, my workshop is now booked solid into September and I am working 60-70 hours a week just trying to catch up. The result is that the club got rather neglected, for which I apologise.

I will be sending out (as soon as I can find the time) a letter to everyone who has signed up so far, basically asking for some volunteers to help get the club off the ground. There is no way now that it will be up and running in time for Billing, but it would be nice to get something together in time for one of the shows this year.

I am going to break it now. When i get to it.The green Stage 1 is on a SORN to try and catch up the bulkhead, sold the 90,bought a little Series for a runabout, new engine for the blue 1. U know how it is, hardly time to sleep.

I think it's a good thing and also interesting to gauge survival rates and locate and maybe deal with vehicle specific spares...

Also I think it may help us agree better agreed values on our Stage 1's as the max that i can get is £4K (as per LRO guides) with flux and we all know that there is more to it than that.

We're also a select group with a rare series vehicle.

Seb,

Sounds like a great idea...and if you're up for it, I feel you'd be the man for the job! Would be quite prepared to lend a hand any way I could as well, as I'm sure others would too.

Regards,

John

Here's what I'de like to do:

Get info on as many remaining Stage 1's as possible

VIN
Year
Location
Model
Mods
Special items
History

I'd like to publish on my website basic info a bit like Annette did on what seems to be the defunct register.

Longer term I think we can use this info to get sensible values placed on Stage 1's for insurance purposes especially agreed value.

We can use the forum to negotiate discounts with suppliers

Use the register/forum for manufacture of hard to get parts maybe?

My revised site should be ready in the next few days which will have a form to send with info.

I'd like to then contact LRO etc to raise profile.

What do we all think?

Sounds like a good idea and should be relatively simple exercise to build a little database for storage with a web based front end and search engine.

Sounds good to me. This website however has been an invaluable source of information so it would be good to keep a link to it.

Havn't been on the forum for some time due to work and personal commitments, but I can now get back into the "Stage 1 scene" and if I can help get the register/club moving along then I am willing to do so, Also we run a Land Rover spares business ourselves so might be able to help with re-manufactured parts.

let's talk
