Selling Advice

Post by Mac V8 »

Hello all

I am looking for some advice on the value of my 109 stage one V8 (truck cab). Having looked at various examples for sale online I am none the wiser. If anyone could give me some pointers I would be very grateful.

My father owned it from new. Manufactured in 1979, bought in Saudi and brought back to U.K. (so LHD). Never really used much so only 31k miles on the clock. Sat in the farm shed for 5 years and to put it back on the road had all springs, shocks, brakes, lines, clutch master/slave etc. replaced by Strathearn Engineering -Land Rover specialists. Everything works just as it should.

Sadly I do not have the option of keeping it. Thanks for any comments or suggestions you might have. Its yellow - I have a couple of pictures if that would help.

Stick some pictures up and I am sure that someone on here will be able to give you some idea as to its value. As a rough guide, it could be anywhere between 1 and 3K depending on the condition.
Hope this helps,

Matt.

I would say ^^ are very low valuations
Based on my what ive seen since i got mine
£750 - complete basket casing needing major work
£1500- something with an MOT, probably needing work for the next or at least in the short term
£3000 - a solid vehicle needing nothing doing, but not very original and probably looking quite rough externally
£5000+ looking at a mint vehicle, which is pretty original or restored well, with correct trim etc all there

Pics will help allot in giving you an idea, but id be imagining the 3-5K area from what you've said
Sw's are generally worth a bit more than the utilities, and stage 1's more than the equivalent 4cyl LR
Allot also depends how quick you want it gone, a quick ebay sale will achieve less than conventional sale is likely to

I have based it on this, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1984-Land-Rover-S ... 1c16c05562

which is also LHD, very tidy, low mileage, a station wagon and STILL up for sale for less than 4 thousand !

This isn't the lime green car that appeared in some of the glossy mags?

If it's any good or even pretends to be, the best money you will possibly get is in the U.S.A. LHD will be an added selling point.

You could possibly get a whole bunch more for it in the States:

Hi, you can get a copy of LRO or LRM magazin and check the prices.
And perhaps this will help:
