CONVERTING A STAGE 1

Post by GAV T »

Hi all, I've just picked up a 109 stage 1 at good money but needs a bit of TLC. However although I've bought this stage 1 I've always wanted a 110 defender has anybody here converted one over. i.e wings, rear arch skins and arch spats??

Any Info would be gr8.
V8'S WILL PASS ANYTHING EXCEPT A PETROL STATION!!!!!!!

Might be better to sell me the Stage 1 and buy a 110 V8. Plenty out there.

Yes I agree. The stage 1 is a rare and historically significant vehicle. You can see prices going up already. 110V8 are plentifull. Better to swap if that is what you want. Worst choice will be if you make the 109 look like a 110. I'm afraid you will look foolish.

Best choice as far as I am concerned is to refurbish the 109 and be proud of it!

Hi, i agree that maybe you would probaly be better of buying a 110, but i don't agree that if you converted your stage 1 you would look foolish! i have allready had a similar discussion on here reguarding converting to coils, and at the end of the day it's your truck and upto you how you modify it.

Ok. I stand corrected. Basil is of course right in that is your truck and you can decide whatever you want with it.

Just some points however: the 109v8 track is a little smaller than that of a 110 and you'll have difficulty filling the spats. Also look at :http://www.stage1v8.org.uk/igallery/11.html and you decide how the truck will look with spats.

Good luck!
