May I suggest you move this to a new thread and start to document what you do? I, amongst others, will be very interested in how you proceed.

Whatever you say Doc.

Well, maybe the name of this topic is good enough?

We already have the pics in and all..

I also think that there are too many topics out already.

Well then Doc, I called the new subject 1977 Stage 1 restoration.

Unfortunately I don't have a clue on what to write. Let's see if anyone gets hooked.

I've been busy looking at the archives at Gaydon and you can add this to the list:

LR 109. 8 cyl. 16/6/76. OHP 235P. 914442206C. LR1. Noted as styling buck in 1979.

The other(s) may not have been registered and used under trade plates or barrier tested. does anyone know anything about any of these. I know a lot about THP74R as i own it but would love any history or the fate of any of the others
URH 873R is SDU 250R (LR4).

Prototype THP 74R for sale:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1977-Stage-1 ... 3641.l6368

And it's here in Leicester - these are the guys I sold my period Genuine Land Rover spare wheel cover to. (Makes your purchase of RHP 175R look something of a bargain Rocky80inch :) )

Not very correct add - it's not the oldest survivor, and it's hopefully not a LT85 gearbox thats in it :)

So where's the spare wheel cover?

I take it that the load space is the "original paint' and all the other new paint is applied with great sympathy (entire outside, inside of cabin area…). Including the inside of the door tops they missed along with the underside of all the panels.

If the chassis has been powder coated then it's the worst job ever or the chassis is absolutely knackered from scale. I am impressed that the gearbox isn't plastered in the black paint and tar they've used elsewhere. I wonder what the engine bay looks like?

Love the 110 side steps. Has anyone tried the 'non-pressurised' salesman?

Gracing some other lucky Land Rover I have no doubt - not much call for it on a pickup.

My, we do all expect a lot for our money, don't we? What about those lovely mudflaps then? [<smug>]

I feel all salesmen should be 'pressurised'.

All too much like the place where I was an apprentice. The owner's only qualification in life was used car salesman. Yes, all the stereotypes apply.

This vehicle looks awfully like the mega-euro one offered somewhere else.
