Got my vehicle history today

Post by arcticrover »

True to the reports, Land Rover Traceability is still alive and well. There wasn't much to the letter I got from them, but they did confirm that it left Solihull on or about 13th Dec 1979 in Marian Blue. Hmm. . .so she wasn't always Masai Red. That definitely makes me wonder. There isn't a trace of blue anywhere. Not even on the inside. I'm about ready to pay for a VIN trace. What do you all think?

i have a 1980 station wagon in pagent blue, i had trouble getting the colour because i didnt know the name originaly. i dont think they made the stage 1 in marine blue. back to the point, i used to have a mid 80s range rover in light brown, but that was meant to of left the factory as a green car (which it never has been). i was told that they some times get the colours wrong on the records when leaving the factory.

Yeah. Unless this was taken all the way down to birmabright even in the engine bay, this vehicle was never any other color than red. But then again, it didn't have a V8 chassis number, either. Unless I pay for a vehicle history, I may have to accept having a very incomplete idea of what or where this old girl has been.

I owned one for a while - no evidence that it had ever been repainted. But I've never seen another one the same colour.

they were made in all original landrover colours ;

marine blue

mid-grey

they also made some new colours only availlable to the stage1 v8;
masai red
java green
inca yellow

Thanks, Onno. I think I like the Marine Blue quite a lot. But then again, Masai Red. . .oh well. . .it's an academic question for now. My priorities are mechanical.
