An appreciating classic so she is well worth saving especially if she is unmolested and complete. Welcome aboard and don’t be afraid to post questions as there is a mine of quality info between us fellow V8 owners.
Interesting colour!

Brake Pipes
Just to bring it to your attention. If you are planning on replacing the metal brake pipes that go from the front flexi hoses to the wheel cylinders they have metric and imperial unions on the same pipe. This I’m sure has already been covered before, but my point is this; if you are ordering pre mad...

The heater valve is another unique part for the Stage1, certainly the UK spec ones as I’m of the understanding that the export ones say in Aus and NZ are also different. Mine’s been absent and bypassed long before I got her which isn’t a problem as heat is only noticeable when the fan is on as the v...

Here’s a couple of old photos from my library before I acquired the old girl. If they don’t give you enough of a guide then let me know and I’ll take some new ones. I think the SD1 water pump is quite a bit different to the Stage1. http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz115/v12msb/DSC00080.jpg http://...

I’m reliably informed that the generic trims don’t fit the doors with the anti burst locks very well. Unfortunately Exmoor only cater for the standard earlier lock type with allegedly mixed success rates. I have found some nice quality aftermarket fibreglass trims but they too suffer from the same c...

To clarify – the rev counter was from a 4 cylinder MGB circa 1974 – 1976 and it had a single vee chrome bezel and a typical Smiths style needle. It is of the later RVC type which is compatible with electronic ignition and like the LR speedo it is 100mm in diameter unlike the later 80mm ones. I conve...

The rev counter is from an early rubber bumper MGB GT so it is also suitable for electronic ignition. Obviously I had to convert it so that it reads correctly for the V8 plus I used a bezel and needle off of a doner LR speedo. The wiring to relocate the gauges was a simple extension piece which plug...

Dash Upgrade
I've decided to upgrade the dash on the Stage1 but at the same time keeping it as original looking as possible. Note the matching LR bezel and needle on the rev counter. I apologise in advance for the quality of the photos but at this stage it is simply a fully working mock-up as the gauges will req...

Military switch type panel
Can anybody confirm how the military spec switch panel attaches to the bulkhead? The standard Stage1 has a central switch panel which consists of two side panels and a central trim. I want to insert a flat panel between the side panels much like the military spec ones thus spreading apart the existi...

London to Brighton run September 2010
Does this interest anyone? I went last year and it was a massive turnout.

Standard ones are painted over galvanised I think but some station wagons had a different wider design. Have a look on Seb’s site as he picked up on this some time ago. http://sebastianking.blogspot.com/
