Have fun Aaron. Remember though that smaller isn't always better in the off-road world, but parent are always right.

My Stage 1 is 25 now and hopefully will still be going strong when you are ;)

I use 95. The power difference is noticeable cf 91 and idle is much better too.

I'd keep away from bio-fuels with high concentrations though.

But then again, if there's no petrol you could always use vodka :)

In which case I'd check out Forward Spec's for new parts.

Don't think you would ever get perfect second hand parts, given the age of them now ;)

Hey there Davo, Yes the army did sell off its Landies. The parts have been distributed widely, having been sold at auction. So as for where you can get spares I would suggest putting a parts wanted ad on Trademe.co.nz, or putting a request through the local clubs http://www.nz4wd.co.nz/wawcs0113567/...

Check out Landy Heaven. They had several last time I enquired. Good people to deal with too.

Hmm, not sure what happened there. My post disappeared.

Anyway. I can't really answer your question because I've never fitted an overdrive. The pto comes out the rear of the transfer case though.

Hey Gary :) when i scored mine from Linton, i was lucky enough to get the full service history folder with it, mine is number 383, body has done about 150,000kms now and motor is 37,000kms from being swaped out by the army mechanics for a rebuilt one. Like you i have removed the restrictors, just go...

You lucky bugger. Did your stage 1 come from the army with the pto on the t/c? The internals are there but the cover plate needs to be removed and the external connection put in. Problem is though that the rear fuel tank means it cannot be run out the usual place through the rear chassis member, bu...

I've heard of it being done but I've never seen one. I would like to make use of the pto on the transfer case but I guess that would mean a centre mounted winch.
