Re: Overheating
Sorry to hear about your woes :( As my father in law tells every customer of his, there are two things that will kill a V8. Lack of oil and excessive heat, the blocks do not like to get hot at all. I would suspect that you do have a head gasket problem causing excessive pressure in the cooling syste...

Re: Alice to the road!!
Feeling a little guilty that I have not updated Alice's story for a while  I'm happy to report that she is still alive and well!! Alice is used on a daily basis and brings a smile to my face every time I fire her up, I realy cannot think of any other vehicle that I would rather have. I tend t...

Re: PROBLEMS STARTING AFTER REBUILD
Back to basics. Have you got a spark? Is fuel getting to the carbs? If the answer is yes to both, it the distributor 'timing' correct, ie when the crank is at top dead centre, and piston 1 is at the top of the bore (marking on crank pulley) does the rotor arm point to plug 1 in the dizzy cap. Have y...

The figure that was given in the fitting instructions was 65ft lb for the U bolts and 75ft lb for the shackle bolts.

Re: Information required asap - LWB spring mounts
When I rebuilt Alice, I did quite a bit of digging around on springs, which is a much debated topic! I decided to go down the parabolic route, using the setup from Rocky Mountain, which has given me quite a nice and suprisingly compliant ride, which improves when there is weight in the back. Yes the...

Re: Steering damper
When I rebuilt Alice, I ordered a standard steering damper using the part number from the 'book'. The steering on Alice is surprisingly light, light enough that I can turn the steering wheel from lock to lock with very little effort whilst moving slowly. (of course when stationary the effort require...

Re: Alice to the road!!
Rear seat belts are relativly easy to retro fit. You will need to buy the bottom mounting bracket which is a simple bolt on job. Various places sell them (there is a part number for the item, my books are currently buried under boxes of stuff at the mo) This is what it looks like, https://c3.staticf...
