Re: Hello from Yorkshire

Finally got a quick half hour to take a look at the fuel leak around the fuel pump on Saturday... it turns out the rubber hose has perished and has numerous cracks in it - the pump itself seems ok, so at least that one thing I don't have to worry about immediately. I went to the Donington 4x4 Show o...

Distributors... what are you using?

When I get around to servicing the ignition side of things, I'll be looking at over £100 for new points, condenser, rotor arm, cap etc for the old Mallory distributor that has been fitted to the RRC engine in my Stage 1. With that in mind, I'm open to fitting a different distributor - particularly h...

Re: New Owner from Australia

I'll swap you an original badge for the front bumper - I'll pay for the postage of the badge to Oz if you pay the postage of the bumper from Oz to the UK  You could tell your mates you sold it to Captain Slow! No I'm not the original one, the missus thinks I'm mad because I'm happy driving arou...

Re: The ultimate Stage 1 project!!!

Or maybe it was sold outside of eBay to avoid the selling fees? Happens all the time

Definitely deserves to be restored and saved though, I've only seen one of those in real life and that was decades ago.

Re: v8 Buick 4.9 300 1964

Thanks for the update. Must say I'd have made the same decision - a 9.35:1CR 3.5 is probably the best Rover V8 about - simple construction and decent enough power output (130-140bhp?) for us drum braked dinosaurs, and without the block cracking issues of the larger bored engines.

Re: New Owner from Australia

Hi GG, glad you found us over here :) Regarding the rear badge, it was a standard LR badge - this is mine albeit a UK spec 109 Regular (ie not a Station Wagon) http://duckfieldengineering.com/forums/LR/stage1-rear.jpg The station wagon had the extra 'Four Wheel Drive Station Wagon' piece as on other...

I have similar concerns Bernard and so only provided body type, chassis and engine numbers, no registration number.

Re: originality

If you've only just bought it, and the steering is safe then enjoy it, use it. Arguably the originality value only comes into play when you want to sell it. As map1275 has said, if its the usual P38 or similar clamped-to-the-chassis modification, then its easily reversible anyway. If a previous owne...

Re: bottom

Mine's not a station wagon, but that rear panel is pretty cluttered - would the 'station wagon' piece even fit???

Hi Andy, yes the HCPU is the rarest of all Stage Ones as far as I can tell. It would be great to get yours back on the road.

Welcome to the forum BTW, from another Yorkshire newbie :)

Re: Looking for ASH 770W

They're actually very relaxed about it Geoff, I haven't had a request turned down yet. Both as a current owner and a previous owner. For example I found a service book once for one of my old cars - it had a main dealer history upto the point I bought it. I contacted DVLA and asked for the current ow...
