True, you can, but unless having suffered from low oil level in transfer box in my opinion only rebuilding transfer gears is not very usefull. The main gears have done the same amount of miles, so why not replacing them also? Better to open up everything once then twice..

Just stick to engine oil (20W50 of 15W40 for example)
LT95 doesn't like thick stuff.

LT85 is the "santana" 5 speed box used in 110's and not in stage ones. If you have 4 gears you have a LT95

Color? MASAI RED 8) can't go wrong with that... By adapting the drivestyle a bit, it is no problem driving it without the "clunk". I only have real problems when I put it in reverse and I start driving. It rattles like hell, and without beïng very kind on the clutch the thing nearly makes ...

Transfer box and main gearbox are one part, se I think it's not very usefull to replaxe only the transfer gears.. I have the same "clunk" and it's getting worse. Replaced the front propshaft and it got a bit better. The front diff has loads of slack though. I think of replacing that but it...

@ Steven, that's very kind of you. I think I will be fine, but if I have something to ask I will  @ Mich, The headers I have are manufactured by Tiger exhausts. They are for defender 110. Due to different steering box and axle they need some modification to fit properly on a stage one, but it ...

Yeah i've been there quite a lot. We had a range rover classic before. So we usually had parts from him. After that we bought a lot of stuff for an "88 S3 hybrid on a rangerover chassis. They have everything you need. After that we sold him our rrc and bought his discovery 2 td5.. Good to see a...

@ Jambo, I think I will order a complete cam kit with the cam, new tappets etc. The pushrods are all numbered with a piece of tape. The timing chain and wheel I will change also. As you can see on the picture it has quite a lot of slack. The Stainless headers are from a 110 and needs some severe reb...

Jonnyboy, Oil on the pistons improves the overall pressure, but the difference between the good and the bad pistons I had before was still the same. Wasn't very clear in my previous post.. I guess knowing this the problem does not lay in sticking valves Heads look like new, rockers, rockershafts, et...

Engine overhaul

After a long time of preparing I finally know what is the most sensible thing to do with my car. My engine is getting very tired and needs replacement. Because it is my only car I can't miss it to long so overhauling my own engine was not an option. Also the gearbox is getting worse and worse the la...

i hope you checked the endfloat! if if there's too much or too little space it will be worn again in a short while. i had this when i put a new shaft in the transferbox with the old shims and new bearings, and also I changed the high gear. I have, luckily that also wasn't a problem, the different s...

Problem fixed.. Bearings, rings and shims on the intermediate transmission shaft were completely gone.. Luckily I had an extra LT95 box out of a 101 from which I could use for the parts, only the high gear is different so I didn't use that one. Now runs like a dream again, and that within a day! Cou...

Finally some news about another engine.
Bought a second hand 3.5 which came out of a 101 FC.
Planning to do a total rebuilt on it, but now a cheap 3.9 came across, so maybe I am still going to change plans..

Will try to make some pictures during the process

I had the noise as well for a month or so, and today it failed already.. Driving back home after work on the motorway the transmission just suddenly failed. It jumped out of high gearing in Neutral. Managed to get home in low gear, but still don't know what the problem is after opening up the top co...
