There was a fairy capstan winch bumper on e-bay some time ago.. Just like I have on my car.
I think on a series car you should have a capstan instead of an electric one.. :)

The muddflaps are an idea I already thought about.
In my opinion the thing that attracts me most about the stage one is the look of the series, for me that includes no flares on it... The wheels fill in the arches perfectly now without spreading dirt all over the car. Perfect!

I've got a set of Mangels white 8-spokes on my stage1. They are 16" x 7J. Because the offset is greater then the original LR wheels your turning circle can be a little bit smaller. I have discoverer S/T tyres on it, size 235 x 85 x 16. Very good on the road and enough grip offroad. These combin...

Underwater burble :)

Had some fun on an ex- "Land Rover experience" terrain. The track was long left, but the water was still in the ditch. Not very spectacular, but we had fun playing in the water  http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=3M5-rynVHKo A bit of mud http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=P0sa8MZNsVs Some more ...

Received the RPI camshaft set today. Looks good! New camshaft bearings are in also, so it's ready to be fitted. Started with putting in and measuring opening of the piston rings, but found a problem when fitting them on the pistons afterwards. The rings are to thin, max. opening allowed is 0.13 mm a...

So you'll need to check and adjust tappet preload anyway, wether you use new of re grinded valves. Right?!

Hopefully piston rings and camshaft arrive today so I can carry on with the build up.

New valves will have to be grinded also to fit valve seats, won't they? Well we'll see.. Think I can collect the heads tomorrow.. can't wait! Checking tapped preload was planned already, so if any problems occure I'll see it anyway. I'm trying to make a complete measuring report for all bearings, bo...

Not yet, I brought the heads to a professional I know. He will pressure test them and do the valves + seatings etc.
When I have them back I may have an answer to that question.

Engine is at the point of reassembling again. Couldn't find the time to begin earlier.. After having measured crankshaft bearings, big end bearings, cilinder bore and pistons I found out the engine was in a very good state. Could do with std bearings, today I stopped after refitting the crankshaft. ...

Think I must agree with you then :) Costs is offcourse a good reason. Not having to pull the box out saves a lot of time indeed, only thing is that it is hard to work on it when you don't have a proper lift for your car. Did mine with only blocks under the front wheels, still felt my arms a few days...
