Re: Gathering of Stage One's

This gathering has struggled to find any momentum. Anyone else got any ideas? TBH I've lost interest in the main big shows as it's all too bling for me but I would do Peterborough if a gathering can be arranged. I've also seen this - they are trying to put together a LR contingent which might intere...

Re: Rear Crossmember

I'm not one for promoting suppliers but I will mention this firm - GDI Products I am currently having a new rear crossmember fitted by a land Rover specialist and I supplied my own crossmember from GDI Products - link below. Even before it was sent to be fitted the quality of this thing was way bett...

Re: Fitting a vacuum gauge

I'm sure there will be many opinions on this subject but if you plan to have a vacuum gauge for any other reason than a decorative item then ideally you need two - one for each carb and the vacuum take off should be taken as close to each carb as possible using one way valves where necessary. Using ...

Re: little help needed

Photos will be quite difficult to take in situ because the wiring is pretty much hidden away behind the exhaust manifold. I’ve put mine all back together now but it is still fresh in my memory if you need any info. I will just add from my previous post that the oil pressure sender wire is not part o...

New Magazine

Has anyone subscribed to this yet and if so what do you think?

http://www.classiclandrover.com/

I'm thinking great idea as it is specific to the older stuff - I'm not overly impressed with LRM since the restructure plus I'm fed up with seeing bling advertised on every other page

Indicator Stalk

Is it just me or was I going mad when the genuine Lucas indicator stalk (575383) I ordered fitted like a glove on a foot :?: Not only did the cancelling lug on the column catch the prongs on the switch when in the off position the stalk in my opinion is over cranked. The worst thing was the multiplu...

Re: Clutch Pipe

I was also sucked in by that information which turns out to be irrelevant. Those parts refer to the regular Series vehicle and not the V8. I found the so called correct part number NRC3947 on page 134 in box number 1G 05. Note* only a reference and part number – no drawing so I’ll let you know what ...

Clutch Pipe

Has anyone replaced the steel clutch hydraulic pipe that runs from the flexi on top of the bellhousing down to the slave cylinder? If so do you know the correct part number as the parts list doesn't seem that clear :?

Exhaust Manifold Gaskets

I'm a bit curious - I had to remove the exhaust manifolds so that i can renew the downpipe studs. When they came off I noticed that weren’t any gaskets fitted between the manifolds and cylinder heads. I've purchased new gaskets when I ordered the parts, but I have noticed that there is no reference ...

Re: little help needed

I've had to take the wings off to get to the exhaust manifolds so that I can change the exhaust! You can guess what the downpipe studs were like  Anyway, I can now see where everything goes or should go, so let me know if you need any info. I can't provide anything until the weekend though. Th...

Re: rebirth of the beast

Well that would depend on how well it has been stored. Has it been dry stored or left outside? You could be faced with two very different scenarios :o I’m assuming that you are looking to get it running before you do anything so at the very least you should change the engine oil and filter and then ...

Re: How Many Stage 1's Left on UK roads?

Might want to start a new thread on this

The part number is right but obviously pot luck with what brand you get with the cheaper "replacement" ones.
L.R.Series possess to sell genuine ones - £125.00 though

Re: Bumper

Here's an early Stage 1 V8 bumper - worth grabbing. I arranged my own courier when I bought mine which was £18.00 from memory http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-rover-stage-1-bumper-/321069173837?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D54513776...
