All of the above prompted me to have a look, as my '83 110 has a starting handle still mounted in the original clips in the back. Checked the crankshaft end - no starter dog ! A mystery to me. The engine is the original and shows no signs of ever having been out in its 77K miles. Any ideas ? Out of ...

Mon Dieu ! Chris, Can't believe that a piece of advice that this non-expert gave turned out to be sound !

Glad all is running fine now. Stick to genuine ignition parts.

I had serious backfiring problems with my LPG-converted '83 110 V8. In my case, it was related to starting a cold engine first thing in the morning on LPG - it would start but ran incredibly rough & backfired on the overrun. Eventually blew out my front silencer with a helluva bang (if it had ha...

Sorry to disappoint, but the 'not V8' applies to 110s as well. I have OE rubber matting in my '83 110 V8 SW. Drivers side was well worn & couldn't find a replacement (its all one piece with trans tunnel & passenger footwell) anywhere. My solution was to cut away the outer 3/4 of the footwell...

Could be fuel vapourisation - the fuel line to the carbs is only black rubber and runs pretty close to the LH exhaust manifold. I had vapourisation problems on my '83 110 V8 SW (recognised the symptoms from a long-ago kit car build); cured by replacing the entire fuel line with stainless braided hos...

Still Looking !

I still need the actuating linkage for the Fairey Overdrive fitted to the LT95 4-speed gearbox - type suitable for either the Stage 1 V8/early 110 V8s (NOT the Range Rover linkage - which is different). Linkage consists of: - Cranked actuating rod (longer than straight Series or Range Rover rods and...

Fuel Starvation ?

Having a seriously weird fuel (?) problem on my '83 110 V8. She starts & runs fine on LPG, but - when started on petrol started with difficulty, ran roughly for about 30 seconds then cut out - repeatedly. Pumping the accelerator prolonged this to about 45 seconds. That was yesterday - today she ...

If you do buy it to break for bits, I would be very interested in the overdrive linkage ! Have been after one for months.

WANTED - Rear Door Lock for 1983 110 V8

Hi, Having been run a merry ring by Craddocks (substituted part was not a substitute that would fit !), I am after a rear door lock for my 110 V8, which is suffering from the dread revolving lock barrel syndrome. OE part number was MUC1030. Having just signed up to Photobucket, hopefully a couple of...

Helluva Bang - LPG Coldstarting

Well - started up this morning on LPG after a coldish night. No problem starting, but the truck ran a bit lumpily as it does when starting cold on LPG. Half a mile down the road, after a couple of minor backfires (normal in these circumstances) there was a helluva bang. If I had been somewhe...
