Any more of the rest of the Stage 1. Only one i've seen in the same colour as mine. I'm afraid not. The only ones I didn't upload were some close-ups of the catch for the bonnet lock which I took since my bonnet had been replaced with one without that. I wanted to see how it was fitted since the pr...

Probably not enough detail for you at http://www.stage1v8.org.uk/tech/Engine_Bay.html
However, somewhere I've got some photos I took of a vehicle which was for sale at the East Anglian Off Road show in 2004. From memory they show a bit more so I'll stick them in a gallery when I find them.

If the engine is cranking over OK but not firing it sounds like the starter itself is fine. The coil is actually 6V and is fed via a dropper resistor. A secondary contact on the solenoid supplies full battery volts direct to the coil during cranking (probably about 9 or 10V due to the starter load) ...

Re: Unleaded question
Can the Stage 1 V8 run on unleaded without changing the cylinder heads? I seem to remember reading that all the V8s fitted to Land Rovers had hardened valve seats but I can't remember where I saw it. I've been running on unleaded for 10000 miles without problems. If so does the timming need to be a...

I've now put the pictures, which Bumpkin had already sent me, up on the main site: http://stage1v8.org.uk/overdrive/index.html I still haven't got round to fitting mine. The operating linkage which I got from the Rangie puts the lever too far back for the Stage 1 (unless you don't have a centre seat...

Overdrive
I have an overdrive (taken off a Range Rover) which I am intending to fit to my Stage 1 if I ever find the time to do it. Having looked at the existing setup it seems that the hand brake cable runs across the back of the cover plate where the overdrive needs to go. Also with the arrangement which ca...

Mine has a viscous fan - 7 plastic blades and plastic hub attached by 4 bolts to a largeish cast finned hub. According to the parts manual there was also a non-viscous version with 5 metal blades riveted to a pressed metal hub. It gives the following numbers for the blades part: viscous (plastic) 61...

Re: NEW GUY
Welcome! I've always liked the idea of a SWB Stage 1 myself. I also have a Lightweight which is rather more agile than a LWB and would be awesome with Stage 1 mechanics. if i knew how to attach an image i would attach a picture If you'd like to send me a picture - there's an email link from the gall...
