Well, you never know what's been done with these cars but according to ye partes booke all Stage Ones should have the later circlip type, built as they were at the end of the Series Landie run.

I seem to remember using the V8 110/Rangie part number NRC2211. For some stupid reason they forgot that in the SIII parts book. (I often think that with the Stage I they were in a bit of a hurry sometimes.) For reference for this area of the car, you can use the Range Rover or 110 manual. It shows b...

Oh, so now he starts using part numbers! :P It's a typo. There are only a few in the parts books but very occasionally you come across them. There's a real beauty in the One Ten book where they got the LT95 centre diff numbers a bit mixed up. Yes, NH606041L are the four plain nuts for the rubber mou...

Easy! There are three bolts on either side that go through the chassis. These are for the pressed steel plates that the rubber mountings bolt onto.

The Stage I was geared comparatively low at 1.336:1 since it was meant to be mainly a work vehicle and so needed the gearing for towing and so on. Over the years it became quite common to put in various Rangie gearsets. The highest of these is .9962:1 (45 teeth) and sounds like it can be a bit high,...

A big thanks from me, too, as I needed that information as well! Now I can send a 4-cylinder prop away to be changed. :D

Have a look at this thread: http://www.stage1v8.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=890&start=15 just down the Technical page a bit, where we discussed this earlier. I just checked a speedo pinion from a Rangie gearbox, and it has 22 teeth. The Stage I pinion has 20, so I think that's your problem. Ra...

RTC3511 is for all Stage I axles and is the same as used in Rangie Classics. When they built the Stage I they made them all with the "new" hubs that used the same size wheelbearings for the inner and outer, and this was carried over to the 110 when it came out a little later on. The wheelb...

Yes, the centre diff lock - the one in the gearbox that every Stage I has - should be used when off-road. Axle diff locks you use only when you need them for a tricky section.

As said above, replace the clutch hydraulics. The car is getting old and they are cheap and easy to replace. Do the master cylinder, the slave cylinder, and the flexible hose and then that will be one less thing to worry about. Also, if you do some gearbox work then you will definitely trust the car...

Did you bed in the rings? You get the engine up to temperature, then go to a long, straight, and empty stretch of road and in 4th gear floor the accelerator from about 50-60kmh up to about 90kmh, then lift the pedal and let the car slow down without braking. You do this several times and this loads ...

Thanks for the link, Stirling, though I already had a good look at that and saved the photos for reference! I thought stephen meant headers as in extractors, you know, tubular manifolds.

Oh dear. You'd better post this as a new thread so everybody can see it.

The LT95 is a very strong gearbox but can have problems as it ages. Please put a really good description of the problem in a new thread and we can see what we can do.
