Baz, Thanks. Haven't tried priming twice and will give it a go. I can usually start her down to 0 degrees C (bit colder here, Stirl, than in Oz - unless you live on the top of Mt Koziusko !), but she then overfuels, stinks of gas & backfires on the overrun until the temp gauge shows some moveme...

Oil pump? :?
In the front housing there is an oil pump, if you put ep90 in the box instead of 20/50 you will more than likely blow the seal's in it, thats how i found out about mine lol.

Re: LT95 whirring noise

Hi all, Having finally got my engine running sweetly and having an exhaust that doesnt blow means I can now hear the various other noises coming from the vehicle. There is a whirring noise coming from the front of the gearbox that only goes away when the clutch is depressed. Any thoughts? Cheers Jo...

Dead right there mate i put ep90 in an lt95 and it blew the seal's in the oil pump, best sticking with the 20/50

Hi Horst, I have now run my very early (1983 - so engine-wise not that different from Stage 1s) 110 V8 on LPG for just over 1000 miles. MPG is down from 15-16 on petrol to 12-13 on LPG - but here in UK the cost per litre is only about half that of petrol, so I'm quite happy with that. No noticeable...

I am not sure mate but didn't the four speed auto have an electronic speedo drive, or was it cable? did you have to move your chassis mount's to get the gearbox in?

Hi mate, you can use a defender throttle pedal but you will have to cut a piece of it off as they don't fit the footwells.

Re: Rear diffs & ratio

Hi guys, we just bought a few days ago a S3 Stage1 and are now in the process of putting it through the Road Worthy here in QLD. One of the things which came up was that the rear diff is in bad shape (major backlash). So going about replacing it we were thinking about getting diff locks in the back...

Excellent ... sounds easier by the moment.
What thickness do you recommend for the plates?
There 3mm I think, much easier to buy them pre cut mate if you can.

Re: Tappet/Cam Noise

I am beginning to get a bit of the dread tappet/cam rattle on my very early (Aug 83) 110 V8. :( This after a genuine 69,000 miles and 23 years. Typical conditions are either when coasting on very light throttle or accelerating heavily. At all other times, smooth as a dream. :?: My question is - at ...
