Re: Bumper

Here's the previous debate including pictures - I see you contributed there as well :) http://www.stage1v8.org.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1635 My guess is that models up to 1980/81 (when many changes came in to effect) have the separate brackets and the later models had the integral type. Any...

Re: Bumper

There is some debate on whether there are two types of bumper for the Stage1; either with separate mounting brackets or with integral ones. Rumour has it that the latter is the later type but I would be interested to know if the former is a regular Series bumper? Mines fitted with the integral brack...

Re: Gathering of Stage One's

All being well I will be attending the Dunsfold Weekend but it is very low key compared to the big magazine run shows - but I like that :)

Billing is also possible if I'm not holidaying elsewhere at the time.

Re: Gathering of Stage One's

Sounds sensible to hook up with an existing show - saves the embarrassment if nobody turns up  Newark and Eastnor are too far for just a weekend for me but the others are fine although Billing is the closest followed by Peterborough. Billing however, being in August, might be difficult for me a...

Re: Gathering of Stage One's

Sounds good to me. I'm in favour of an overnighter as a central location is quite a drive from me :|

Re: How Many Stage 1's Left on UK roads?

Yea, seen that website before. I guess there are many more sitting around undiscovered in a barn somewhere un SORN. It does however put those figures into perspective and makes you appreciate how rare a Stage1 V8 is when you look up what was considered a relatively rare car in its day like an MGC or...

Re: What would you pay for a stage 1

That's not an easy question to simply answer. So much has to be taken into consideration based mainly around condition and originality. Generally speaking a station wagon is usually worth more but then again a nice hard top is worth much more than a rough station wagon :? My advice would be to pick ...

Re: Thinking of buying a stage 1 V8

To be honest fuel consumption is not great but then my ones a toy and not an everyday drive so it matters not to me  With everything running well and in standard form my one returns an average of between 10 – 15mpg. In the warmer months I’ve had as much as 19mpg on a run. When driving in snow ...

Alternative Heater Control Valve

For those of you looking for an alternative type of heater valve I’m sure this can used with a little thought. It’s reasonably priced as well :)

Re: Show me your consoles!

Just to add: I emailed the chap at Sigma yesterday and he has confirmed that he still has stock of the SIII dash panels; he just isn’t pushing the business as he’s had to take on a full time job. These really are cleverly designed panels. The kit comes with two panels plus optional side panels and a...

Re: Show me your consoles!

I upgraded my dash a while back but I wanted it to look as original as possible plus I didnt want to cut anything. Although very practical (and relatively expensive) the Raptor dash requires cutting the original dash. I had this chap design some panels for me at a very reasonable price. It looks lik...

Re: Hcpu leaking fuel tank

As far as I can see the HCPU V8 is the same as the regular Stage1 tank. Although V8 specific it is the same as the later diesel ones. 4 & 6cyl petrol tanks are not the same.

Re: Scratching my head - Headlamp issue.

Volt drop on the supply cable caused most likely by a dodgy connector block. Unlikely to be the earth as the main beam works ok. Despite low beam voltage being present once a significant load is applied it is enough to cause the problem. Mulitimeters have a habbit of missing this point as they don't...

Re: Hello/S1 Rebuild

I echo that on the dash being an early one. I'm not suggesting however that I'm an expert on this, but a friend of mine has a 1980 88" and as far as I can tell he has the same dash top as me and he's recently changed his as it was split - he never mentioned any difficulties when sourcing one. P...

Re: Hello/S1 Rebuild

Great work.

Interesting about the dash being different - what's different?
Appart from the speedo guts and centre switch panel of course :)
