Re: CV joint

Land-Rover CVs aren't, they rely on splash for lubrication. However your question was about bench testing.
I always grease before fitting. One for protection and two because CV grease is only a thicker version of One Shot. If it mixes with gear oil it won't do any harm.

Re: CV joint

Pull it apart as per any CV.
Once greased, movement should be firm but relatively even in any direction.

Re: ISUZU 3.9 IN U.K

Date of compliance is not date of manufacture, though it can be close. State transport authorities usually accept this date. No, there isn't a database. My own will only narrow the gap. The only local Heritage Certificate available will only parrot what's on the plate, plus a bit of fill such as ass...

Re: ISUZU 3.9 IN U.K

So if it's got a Compliance Plate it has a date from the manufacturer stamped into it!
It's not a date of manufacture but it's close.

Re: ISUZU 3.9 IN U.K

CSW - County Station Wagon
There is no County version offered.

Have you counted the seat belt anchorages to work out how many it's intended to seat?
Apart from the isuzu engine and the seller's story, what proof is there that it's a factory fit?

Compliance Plate affixed to bulkhead.

Re: ISUZU 3.9 IN U.K

If it's an Australian car (a Land Rover 3.9D) then it came with a Compliance Plate and Leyland Australia documents. There is no way in hell it can be a County.

Re: Gumtree again

Sahara dust, Arctic white. Just like that vehicle register we're supposed to have somewhere on this site. You'd find lots of other Land-Rover 3.9D in such a register too. It is only a LWB so at best the two tunnel mats (missing) and plain brown door cards. The plastic covers on the seat belt top mou...

Re: Gumtree again

No. I've advocated for years that Australia is an economical source of vehicles but you almost never see it taken up. Save for overpriced units that end up in the States. Though these typically start off as cheap local buys. You can pick up a 3.9D for well under $20 and this keeps you within excepti...

Re: Gumtree again

Even Americans wouldn't be dumb enough to pay this much. No wonder it's known as scum tree.

Re: Speedometer

In the KPH version, all 109 with the same tyres use the same speedo.
Had my original fitment gauge fixed. Have a new replacement as a spare and have used ones from concurrent Series III.

Re: Lack of Power, Help please.

You used a vacuum gauge to set the timing? The pulley has gradual increments and the distributor has micrometer adjustment. So setting statically is quite effective. If the inlet manifold is leaking it will be sucking from atmosphere or at worst sucking coolant. Pressure test cooling system or run w...
