I must admit that dash top jumped right out at bit me! I thought "thats a pre-74 dash top!!". Is the Stage 1 type vastly different from the generic late series III item? I would have thought they would be easy enough to get hold of.

I think the back seat was like that because they put a heater under the seats, the intake grille for it can be seen just behind the rear door on the passenger side.

My guess is a lot of them ended up in private use off-road, so DVLA shows them as untaxed, but they are still about.
