The relay behind the centre console could well be it. Years ago I had a similar problem, turn key and nothing. Traced it to a dodgy connection on the relay that Stirlsilver suggested. Simple re-crimp and it started. It got me thinking, and I put a switch in that feed to the relay and now have a very...

Cheers Bumpkin. It all looks a bit more feasible than I first thought. I'll start looking around for an overdrive that won't break the bank. I know Series ones are expensive in good condition and getting rarer. Hopefully I'll come across a bargain. Are you likely to produce another batch of blocks a...

Slightly off thread, but I fancied an overdrive for mine, but also didn't want the linkages up through the centre seat area so didn't investigate any further. What exactly is required to fit one to a Stage 1. Is it just a RR Overdrive and the linkages (Bumpkin style) or is there more to it? What sor...

After mine was stood for a while it wouldn't run well. When I finally got round to stripping the carbs I found that the fuel had dried up in the float chambers and partially blocked the filter and float inlet valve with white crud. Cleaned it up and replaced one of the inlet valves (and the needles ...

Did you tighten up the bolts with the whole weight of the vehicle on the spring or while it was jacked up? That can make a difference to ride height of the spring and also how long it will last (or speed up the wear on the bushes). From what I remember, you have to leave the bolts slightly slack, th...

Can't help with the problem you've got (although when mine did that it was a loss of compression due to knackered piston rings!I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone comes up with easier option for you to fix)

Was it like this when you got it, or has it happended while you've been using it? I might be wrong, but I seem to remember that the springs are handed to compensate for driver weight etc. Someone will be able to confirm this (or not). It could be that it's had the wrong spring fitted. When I got min...

I think I'll have to polish up my fabrication skills first. :D The problem I had was that I made it from photos and the drawing in the SIII parts catalogue and the mesh I had was slighlty too small (I think it should be 1 1/4inch rather than the 1 inch I had, and I didn't have an original to use as ...

I think these are the ones. They certainly sell the right ones (and the plugs for them) in the shop:

Radiator grille
For those out there like me who have been struggling to get hold of a Stage 1 grille and nearly given up, it's not actually that hard to make one yourself. I am new to using a MIG welder and am no expert fabricator, but once I'd got hold of some mesh I found that making your own grille is actually v...

Chassis dumb iron
After working way round chassis doing repairs, discovered that the NSF chassis dumb iron/front spring hanger is rotten. Too bad for plating. Does anyone know if this is a standard Series III repair piece or is it Stage 1 specific? The OSF has been replaced in the past and it does look slightly diffe...
