Hi, I had a similar problem with my Stage One. The reason was a sticky temperature-compensator on both carbs. This caused that the mixture got much to rich when the engine has got hot.The problem came after driving about 50 km. Then there came black smoke out of the exhaust-pipe, there was no power,...

Hi, I`ve done an engine rebuild a half year ago. I think you should have a look at your rockershafts. Even if they look good when they are complete, they may be worn under the rockers. You can see it after dimanteling. I renewed them in my engine inclusive all rockers. My engine had bad compression t...

Important

Hi, you should have a look at your steering chain. If it is to long, your timing will be wrong, so the engine won`t run smoothy on low rpm. Fuel consumption will get worse, and power decreases. I renewed chain, cam, rocker shafts etc. Have a look at www.v8engines.com . There are good tips and good i...

Hi Raggylad, the overdrive should fit to your LT 95 too. As far as I know, it fits to all LT95 gearboxes. It has been instaled in the old Range Rovers, in Stage Ones and in early 110 V8. I bought mine in the Netherlands, there is someone who restores overdrives. I paid about 450 Euro, with warranty ...

LT 95 and overdrive

Hi all together, hi firemanshort Perhaps this may help you: Fitting an overdrive is a rather easy job, but you must pay attetion: After the snap ring and the main gear being removed, the main shaft is able to float towards the front of the car. This MUST NOT happen, under no circumstances, because t...

Hi John, I did the gearbox swap a few month ago. I fitted a range gear box, changed intermidiate gears, because the range gear box was overgeared. Then I fitted an overdrive. Runs good now. I had to change all the things you mentioned, and also the speedo drive gear. Changing the gearbox was not dif...

Better economy

Hi, perhaps this can help anyone: I was looking to optimise fuel consumption, so I adjusted the distributor as discribed in the handbook, and renewed the contact breaker points. After that, I overhauled the carbs, (CD 175)- that means new needles, jets, diaphragms etc. Then I adjusted the carbs. Fue...

Hi Garry, here I`m again, `cause I`ve forgotten something: When there was the problem with my serie3, the engine misfires too. With my stage one, I had a problem with the carbs (CD175): When the engine was hot, suddenly it began to run as if the mixture was extrem to rich. There came black smoke out...

Hi Gary, I think, you should change the points at first, because they are cheap, and they wear. I had a similar problem with my serie 3, 21/4 petrol engine. After changing the points, the problem had gone. If you take a scewdriver and open the points a little bit, the surface of the points must be s...

Hi,

as far as I know, the axle straps should limit the way of the springs. Perhaps somehow for securety reasons. I could imagine, that the straps should secure the axle in case of broken spring.-Perhaps.

carburettor and lpg

Hi, I want to set the mixture of my two Zenith CD 175. Does anybody know which carburettor is for which cylinder? Or are both carburettors for all cylinders together? What compression must the engine (copression ratio 8,13:1) have? After about 500 miles since rebuilding (new pistons, rings and borin...

Hi Larry, I think it is a good idea , but it`s difficult for those who are not so good on computers- like me for example. I don`t know how to put a picture onto this site, but I can send them per mail. So, another possibility would be, if one sends such pictures and discriptions from each to the oth...

Hello, I think this is a great site, and it will remain a great side. The administrator and the moderator do a good job. Those dodgy members should be ignored and deleted. In my opinion one can not avoid any dodgy members apearing on this site, but if nobody takes realy notice of them, it`s not seri...
