Re: Wanted Speedo/tripmeter

Your problem is that you have two interconnected unknowns - an incorrect speedometer (does it have any numbers on it that will tell you what it is? and therefore how it is calibrated - assuming it has never been recalibrated differently and not marked as such! - you need to look at the back of it as...

Re: Wanted Speedo/tripmeter

Yes, I have two, both with the trip meter, and they are the original correct speedo for the Stage 1 - bought second-hand on ebay and not used as I eventually realised my inaccurate speedo reading was due to having the wrong speedo worm gear fitted to the rear output shaft (so I had my original speed...

Re: Auxiliary dash panel

Look at my photo in your earlier thread entitled Auxiliary panel - no room for any extra panels on mine.

Re: Back In The Fold

Looking forward to hearing about it and seeing some pictures, especially if it's the vehicle I think it might be, that I saw on ebay - so, I'm not the only one crazy enough to have bought a Stage 1 sight unseen?! :)

Re: Auxiliary gauges

The more gadgets you have, the more there is to go wrong - which wouldn't be so bad but if it isn't MOTable this year, it probably will be next :x

Re: Various stage 1 bits wanted

The original hazard warning switch is a Lucas one, still commonly available on ebay, eg: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-Hazard-Warning-Switch-39364-/281394412323?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item418469fb23 Not so the fog light switch, which is also Lucas. Since it's a pretty simple...

Re: Auxiliary gauges

That loom of yours again! All I can say is that both of mine have oil pressure only and I think that is one of (if not the) most common configurations (in uk at least?) - my Handbook says '(Where applicable)' after each of the oil pressure gauge, oil temperature gauge and voltmeter.

Re: Hazard wiring

PS The hazard switch is shown in the wiring diagram for the V8 in the 90/110 workshop manual (pp 70-71): http://www.landroverweb.com/Pdf-files/Manuals/Defender-90-110-workshop-manual-5.pdf I imagine it must work in the same way there. Wouldn't be the first time I've found the 110 books more useful f...

Re: Hazard wiring

Well, as far as I am concerned vehicle wiring is a combination of spaghetti and alchemy, so you have my sympathy. But I can't see your loom and, in my case, I don't have the disadvantage of not wanting to spoil a shiny new (expensive) loom. What I do have is two old, much-chopped-about-with looms th...

Re: Station Wagon Side Doors

Thanks very much for such a thorough reply! I was beginning to think the different numbers for the County doors at least might just be because of the tinted glass, since I saw the number with a capital C tacked on apparently representing a glazed unit (though why the need for different numbers for t...

Station Wagon Side Doors

I see that my Series 3 parts book (which is dated June 1988) shows different part numbers for the 109 V8 Station Wagon's rear or second row passenger doors from those given for the 'standard' 109in Station Wagon, and yet different numbers again for the 109V8 'County' Station Wagon. Is anyone aware o...

Rear fog light switch knob

I'm looking for an original rear fog light switch knob in good condition from/for the central instrument panel, the type that illuminates orange when pulled. I think this is a Lucas made switch but I haven't been able to discover even the part number, Lucas or Land Rover, for this particular switch,...
