Re: Oil leak from prop side of rear axel
When there is only an oil leak, you need a new oil seal. The worsed case is a grooved flange which is not too expensive. Another possibility could be a Speedy Sleeve.

Re: Spigot bush or release bearing
For that job the gearbox has to come off. That's a heavy thing, I think more than 150kg. When it's on the work bench, the job gets easier... 8) When I repaired my LT95 box 2 years ago, I first took the engine out of the chassis. I think after the repair it is easier to fix the engine to the box than...

Oh, oh, I fear it is as I wrote in my post above: worn layshaft bearings.

Re: Spigot bush or release bearing
Sorry, I can't believe the spigot bush is noisy when your foot is on the pedal. I had the same noise in my LT95 box. At least I discovered worn bearings on the layshaft. While repair I found out the thickness of the distance shim was the reason for the failure. Due to a lack of axial preload the bea...

Nice vehicle in the best color ever
The Range Rover gear ist perfekt with an engine upgrade to 3.9 or more. I often have a caravan behind my 4.6. No problem to start on steep hills and a far better fuel consumption.

Re: Golden plate gearbox?
Is it located on top of the bell housing? It could be a refurbished unit from Land Rover.

Re: New Stage 1 owner in suffolk
Needs some welding and engine hasn't run for the best part of 10 years. I think necessary welding work is a common on all late chassis..., as on bulkheads. All manufacturers used bad sheet metal during that era. The engine could be more expencive, I wish you good luck. My engine had a few corrosion...

Re: Stage One refurbishment in Germany
The air intake temperature control system is useful at temperatures under -5°C. In our region possibly 5 days per year, it's unnecessary for me too.

Re: Stage One refurbishment in Germany
Is there any reason you stuck with the factory carbs and the factory restrictor / throttle plate? I switched to the Edelbrock 4 barrel carb and it is a night and day difference - and my truck did not have the throttle plates in it when I got it. I have to think that you would get even better result...
