Spring configuration

http://www.geocities.com/firemanshort/spring.jpg I understand the use of the few arched springs for unladen comfort and flex with the heavier straight springs giving the bottom end load carrying capacity. However, this set up appears to me to be begging to hang up on rocks, sticks, mud and roots wh...

Was anyone able to find a source for the shifting linkages?

Does anyone have photos of factory shifting linkages to copy?

Fixing Up the Stage One

I am in the UK now - and I drove my Stage One for the first time on Friday night. Besides the whole truck being a complete rust bucket and the exhaust manifold roaring like only a cracked V8 exhaust manifold can..... It is pretty sweet. The V8 power really is amazing compared to my old 2.25 Series I...

DEFENDER bulkheads to Stage One

Besides Andy'a post above, does anyone else have experience replacing a Defender bulkhead on a Stage One? I see quite a few 'new' bulkheads on E-Bay but nothing for a Stage One specifically. This looks like a good deal - if it would fit http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LANDROVER-DEFENDER-BULKHEAD-NEW-GENUINE_W...

It looks funny and from the description I can not tell if they lengthened the chassis or not. The add...

V-8 interchangability

Is a V8 a V8 (specifically Rovers)? Could I find an old wrecked up Rangie or DISCO and take the 3.9 out of it - clean off the fancy new EFI and other polution stuff, slap on the STAGE ONE Carb and ignition and have it fit and run? I reckin' the EFI to carb swap would be OK. I am not sure about the d...

Re: Backfiring

I have replaced the dissi with a good one, replaced the coil, condensor, cap ect ect , rebuilt the carbs, de-choked the heads and replaced the hydrualic lifters. I am not sure what your ETC ETC parts were but missing and backfiring under load sometimes points to bad spark plugs. (Forgive the post i...

transfer gears

Thanks for following up on the LT85 gearbox measurements. I wrote a note off to the Lads and LEGS. They gave me this information: The popular ratio that makes the appreciable difference to your vehicle is .9962:1. The gear and gasket kit for the transfer box is £150.00 (plus vat where applicable.) Registration

... The year built and year registration seem odd to me. It had to be a late model Stage One based on the built date. Could this have been some sort of MOD or other military model brought back to civilian life?
