Ok, so another busy day in the workshop. This time I took to dismantling the gearbox side of the LT95. First off, as the manual instructed, the oil pump gears needed to be taken out (not really sure why). http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a16/stirlsilver/Gearbox%20Rebuild/DSCF1607.jpg http://i8.photo...

id not be sure on that, both the LT95's ive got have alot of marking on the face youve shown ... This is good to know, suprisng that such indents could occur from the factory though, They look like the marks that would have been left behind when high speed bits let go. I did check on the inside of ...

And that's why we are drawn to mess about with these damn things. By the way, is there any way we can get a better looking tongue poking emoticon? I mean this thing :P looks gay. It looks like the grinning smiley ( :D ) with lipstick. When I type a : and P I would think that I should get this http:...

Well, it certainly was good to be able to get back into the nitty gritty of working on my Stage 1... well sort of. Today I was dealing with the replacement gear box that came out of a range rover. Since this gearbox is known to have a problem of jumping out of 2nd gear, the plan is to strip out ever...

The over revving days of my car ended years ago when I fitted the range rover high range transfer gears into the transfer case. From memory they were 0.992 to 1. With this transfer ratio used the LT95 is perfectly road friendly on 31" tyres. Although I use 33" tyres when I'm offroad. You s...

Hello everyone. It's been a while, I was just going to give a quick update. I'm going to soon pull the Stage 1 out and fix the gearbox and a few other bits and pieces. Here is the plan of attack: Pull out the engine and Gearbox Try my hand at rebuilding another gearbox that has been given to me (the...

This is very true and something that you need to weigh up the benefits vs drawbacks. When you go from the mechanical fan to the thermo fan you basically go from depending on one item (the belt) to the belt (for the alternator), your battery, your cable loom, relays, temperature switches and the ther...

I use a single large 17" (I think) thermo fan on mine... you can usually hear it howling away in my videos. Works fine. I didn't actually rig up a switch to manually turn it off and have some times headed in to water with it still running... which causes the fuse to blow. Anyway, yes they do wo...

Pretty sure they are identical. If they are used pick the one that is in the best conditions in terms of the valve guide and rockers. If they are both fully reconditioned just use either of them.... ooor, you could try your hand at some mild porting and polishing. If you stuff one up you will have a...

Yep everything is the same except that the outer row of bolts on the heads are not present and the bore size is different.

You will be able to use the 3.9 rockers and pump on a 3.5

Have you confirmed that the vibration is actually at output shaft rpm and not final drive RPM? a couple of wheels out of balance and you can get a higher vibration frequency although it should change as you go around corners. If you are confident that it is output shaft RPM, take either the front or...

After about 7 hard years of use the transfer case on my Stage 1 gave up the ghost on monday night... :( We had to resort to pulling out the half shafts and drive flanges and towing the car home, all sorts of grinding noises were coming from the transfer case. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a16/sti...
