First job following a rebuild is to make sure the linkage operates both carbs evenly. Slacken all the linkage and quadrants off and set up so that everything moves in unison. Make sure the throttle peddle achieves maximum movement on the butterflies as quite a few I’ve seen don’t! Make sure you have...

This subject has been covered in great detail before with very little in the way of workable options especially when trying to use the LR parts bin. I’ve heard a lot of noises about the possibilities of using the Santana or Iveco Massif setup but nothing to suggest it has actually been done on a Sta...

The joys of stretching a 5/8” hose over a 3/4” flange. It looks like you’ve got the obligatory bypassed/missing heating valve. After that arrangement burst twice on mine I ended up using the correct size hoses with 3/4 to 5/8 reducers from Halfords.

Yes, those rivets are where the plate should be. Interesting that the rivets are there but no plate. They don’t just fall off :? I think I would try and determine the reasoning for this before approaching official sources. Can you be sure it wasn’t stolen some 22 years ago and has been hidden away e...

Hello and welcome, The chassis number is quite easy to find providing the plate is still there :D It’s located on the outside of the n/s/f chassis rail just behind the spring hanger – not the dumb iron area. Just shove your head under the front passenger footwell/floor area and you’ll see the little...

Same thing happened on mine just before going away for a weekend run. I needed a temporary fix so I drilled a tiny hole in the head of the rivet – small enough as not to “drill out the rivet”, crimp a small eyelet on the end of the broken wire and using a tiny self tapping screw affix to the hole. W...

Nice idea but I think you are barking up the wrong tree. Nevertheless, I would be very interested to know if it were possible. I guess if anyone’s going to know you will if you have access to both types of axle for comparison.

:)

I've seen this bad boy before. It looks fine though - I would give it a good t-cut and polish and then see what it looks like.

My guess it is Arctic White – a standard BL colour which was available and usually specified for the emergency services and utility companies. Highly unlikely to a matt finish just the usual age old cellulose syndrome. The paint code is LRC273

Looks like you might need to get hold of a Range Rover (or Stage1) timing cover. The Land Rover water pump sits higher than on earlier V8’s. According to the picture on your website you can see that your water pump is much lower than it should be – the fan doesn’t sit nice against the radiator cowli...
