Re: Choke cable and handbrake

Ah yes, the handbrake gaiter - I bought one of these things, which I think are pretty much purely cosmetic, and then wondered how you were supposed to fit it. I didn't want to even try to remove the handbrake lever handle in case it came off in my hand inconveniently at some future date - keeping it...

Re: CV Joints?!

I just read in this month's Classic Land Rover magazine that 'Jaguar Land Rover are to offer original Land Rover vehicle parts for a variety of heritage models that have been out of production for longer than a decade ... the brand will gradually reintroduce more original part numbers - all made usi...

Re: Alice to the road!!

As a matter of interest, may I ask where you had the radiator done and what it cost? (I have a spare Stage 1 rad sitting in my attic, too valuable to throw away even leaky, and I'd rather it was in a state ready to use if necessary!)

Re: LT95 gear box swap questions/how to

1. It should be on the back of the transfer case. You might find this site useful (once you've got your browser to translate it from the Dutch!): http://www.vislandrovers.nl/extra/revisiedelen/versnel.php#v7 2. And your question is? 3. Sorry, can't help with this one. 4. I believe you will have to f...

Re: New Stage 1 owner on Salisbury Plain

Ah yes, I see now - that bumper's pre-drilled for the lifting eyes. Just be patient with Pegasus - just a one-man band I believe and he makes stuff you can't get anywhere else - and he's on here (so be nice!)

Re: New Stage 1 owner on Salisbury Plain

Thanks. Most (I hesitate to make any absolute statement any more where Land Rovers are concerned) Stage 1 bumpers are fitted by means of four fixing plates which bolt to the chassis and to which the bumper is then bolted. I've not had any trouble fitting these regarding alignment, nor subsequently f...

Re: New Stage 1 owner on Salisbury Plain

As a matter of interest, if you don't mind me asking, where did you get the new front bumper with the lifting eyes?

Re: New Stage 1 owner on Salisbury Plain

Have a look at this Dutch website - it should help you identify your gearbox: http://www.vislandrovers.nl/extra/revisiedelen/versnel.php#v7 Good luck with finding a NOS sppedo head - could be expensive - second-hand ones can be found relatively cheaply on ebay and Speedograph Richfield will check it...

Re: New Stage 1 owner on Salisbury Plain

I concur with what disco2hse says and can recommend Speedograph Richfield in Nottingham. I changed my speedo, cable and pinion drive, all without joy, and came to the conclusion that my gearbox (from a 110 according to the number stamped on it) had the wrong speedo worm gear fitted for the Stage 1. ...

Re: Front diff question

The part number for the front differential oil seal on the Stage 1 is FRC4586 - it's the same part as for all Rover type differentials, ie all Series Land Rovers 1950-1984 (front and rear on the 88in, front only 109) (and excepting the 109 1 Ton) and also the Range Rover Classic to 1986 and Defender...
