5988, I've taken another look at mine, now it's stopped raining, and the only difference between the one I photographed and the other is that the other's top integral brackets bolt beneath the separate brackets bolted to the chassis (I also bolted an A bar on top of the brackets) - that's just the w...

I look forward to seeing your pictures as I have never owned a Landie with the lifting eyes you mention. I own three Land-Rovers, two Stage 1s (both 1981 models) and a 1975 Series 3, and only the latter has a bumper that bolts directly to the chassis rails. I only bought the one pictured last autumn...

Sorry, what is this 'dwell'? Should it assist in any way, this is how the unit I purchased is wired in: It has 6 wires, one connected direct to the 12V supply that is live only when the ignition is on (with a 100MA inline fuse to protect the unit), another connected direct to a good earth point, a t...

13 or 14 years ago I purchased 2 such switches from an outfit called I.H. Marketing (probably one man) in Leeds for just under £25 each. They were making them specially for Series Land-Rovers and advertising them in Land-Rover World magazine at the time. The first one I fitted didn't work but they r...

More interesting (to me) is the following phenomenon: I removed the choke switch from my non-Stage 1 Series 3 to borrow it for my most recently acquired Stage 1 (which of course didn't have one - see above) - with the engine off, the light didn't work - of course - no switch - no connection - but wh...

Yes, I have a functioning cold start light, though the switch has been missing from every Land-Rover I have ever bought when I bought them. However they are easily available (although at a silly price for what they are) - the part number is RTC5816. Go here (a very useful site): http://www.landrover...
