Hi Basil Sorry, I meant to send you something but it got overlooked due to a family crisis. Anyway, here is the message I sent out to everyone who had registered, a few weeks ago: Just a quick message to let you know that, due to the high level of interest, the Club will definitely be going ahead. T...

Revenue weight - problem at MOT time
Copy of something I just posted on the S2 club forum: I just took a 1963 2A 109 petrol to my local MOT station. They now have the new computerised testing system which they did not have last time. They input the chassis number into the system and then informed me that they could not carry out the MO...

Terry That's the one from this website: http://www.landrover.4t.com/ Has now been tidied up a bit. By the way, I have just (last weekend) bought a 110 V8 Hicap in very straight original condition. Should be interesting to see it next to your 109. Here's a sneak preview (better photos to follow): htt...

Just a guess, but looking at that plate, I wonder whether a previous owner had problems with the police or VOSA (vehicle safety agency) over towing weights. It looks as though the only purpose of that plate is to confirm the drawbar weight of the vehicle as 4000kg (6710 less 2710), and perhaps this ...

Anyone fancy a brand new pair of Stage One front wings? Craddocks are offloading a pair on Ebay, and they aren't dear...

As promised, a couple of pictures: http://www.glencoyne.co.uk/storage/bfw179w_1.jpg http://www.glencoyne.co.uk/storage/bfw179w_2.jpg Too late to save this one now. The radiator has gone, I have someone interested in the body tub and various axle bits, and the engine has found its way into a Ninety: ...

Early 110 V8 on Ebay

Looks a nice unspoilt example, and you have to love those Eighties-tastic alloy wheels.

Richard Any chance of a piccy? Terry Certainly. I haven't forgotten that I promised you one. But the vehicle is at the back of the workshop at the moment, so I need to drag it out into the daylight to get some photos of it. I got the engine running - very sweet and quiet. I made an oil pump priming...

I fitted Range Rover transfer gears (1.113:1) to my last Stage One, and found the result a bit disappointing. Certainly it was much quieter at cruising speeds, but it was noticeably slower away from standstill, especially when towing a trailer. It depends what you are planning to use the vehicle for...

Save or scrap?
I have just bought a very sad-looking Stage One for breaking. It is a RHD pickup in Java Green, registration BFW 172W. Heavily stripped (no doors, top or front panel) and with accident damage to one wing, and non-running. The trouble is, now I have had a good look around it, I reckon it's not too fa...
