Hmm, been there You can remove the whole actuator housing in situ from above. Arguably one bolt is awkward due to the gearbox mount. Only a very small amount of oil will escape when you break the gasket seal so no need to drain off unless you need to. Don’t forget the felt seal between the actuator ...

Valley Gasket (Inlet manifold)

Anyone got any thoughts on replacing the valley gasket with the modern composite version?

Looks correct to me. I do have the oil temp gauge and I use the sender as shown with an early RR oil temp gauge to match the original pressure gauge.

Wow – now that’s a reaction. Ok, I will stand corrected on that it does appear that the bumpers were different for early and late vehicles having looked at the drawing in the parts book. Unfortunately there are no “V8” specific drawings to go by. What’s interesting is that the drawing doesn’t show a...

With the greatest respect, I don't think the above pictures are correct. They look a standard Series bumper fitted to possibly cut off Stage1 brackets. Stage1 bumpers are different as are the lifting eyes if applicable. The Stage1 bumper brackets are integral to the bumper and they fit over the chas...

If you’ve got to spend in excess of £300 to replace the swivels how difficult would it be to have swivel balls custom made so that the complete early RR hubs assemblies can fit the Stage1 axle – or perhaps something more plentiful like early Disco? Would need to think about how the steering would go...

What a nightmare – where does this company reside?

Out of interest – how do you know that their swivel housings fit the Stage1 axle?

I do hope that you DO NOT intend on splitting the servo  This is not to be done at any cost. The overhaul process is done only at each end; the master cylinder end and the pedal assey end. If you damage the valve and seal then order a replacement. Don't pry it off just pull it straight off. h...

The overhaul kit should be really easy to fit. The only critical bit (assuming the non serviceable diaphragm is ok) is the seal between the master cylinder and the servo together with the vacuum pipe seal and valve (yes, it should pull out). The seals and filter on the pedal side of the servo should...

Why don't you remove the servo complete with the pedal assey. It'll be much easier to strip on the bench :) Out of interest are you servicing the servo or replacing it. I think this is the correct kit for it http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/29/18G8951L-LAND-ROVER-SERIES-BRAKE-SERVO-REPAI...

Not too bad considering :) Handbrake should work well but never like seeing them tested on a rolling road  Unusual for brake servos not to work but yours has been standing for ages! It must have an air leak which I suspect you won’t be able to hear if the engine is running. Spray carb cleaner...

Copper alloy replacement brake pipe has been an acceptable repair in the UK for decades. It is nice to work with as it is much easier to shape than steel and it flares nice. I would however recommend the more expensive “duller” in colour copper pipe as appose to the bright copper coloured stuff – th...
