Re: Leaky Radiator

Where on your radiator is it leaking? I am looking for ideas on how to find my suspect water thief. It's towards one end low down. I think that you need to try and check when it's cooled down a bit after running. While it's hot the coolant just evaporates and once it's cooled it's not under pressur...

Leaking Radiator

My Stage 1 has been using a bit of water for a while but I've not been able to locate the problem until now. Whether it's become worse or I've just looked at the right time to find it I don't know. Anyway it does seem to be the radiator. Anyone have any experience of radweld (or similar)? I could do...

Hi KRÅVL,

The manual says 5.4 litres + 0.5 litres for a new filter.

The ERR3340 genuine part oil filter has 8 holes and is about 10cm long and 9.5cm diameter.

I've dug out the one which I believe to be from a Rangie but I can't find a part number on it. Although it's in one piece it's fairly rusty and what I thought might be the part number on the casting isn't legible. Anyway there are some photos at http://stage1v8.org.uk/misc/ which might help you deci...

I've got one which came off a Rangie and should be the same part (stashed away remotely, so I can't check right now). If Jon can't find a decent one in his pile of bits let me know and I'll investigate.

I've now corrected the settings on the new forums to be the same as was already the case with the General Discussion forums, so there is no guest posting and there is a moderator who can kill any spam which might be posted by registered users. I've also deleted a few more obviously bogus users. David

Hi Simon, Welcome to the forums. I must admit I've never timed up my Stage 1 engine but if it helps the book figures are: Contact breaker gap 0.35mm to 0.4mm Dwell angle 26deg to 28deg at 550 to 650 rev/min Ignition timing, dynamic: models with emission control 1deg BTDC mark on crankshaft pulley - ...

I've now enabled avatars, either uploaded or remotely linked. Is this a Stage 1 ?

Hi everybody and a Happy Christmas to you all.

It's good to see plenty of activity on the forum.

A friend of mine took this photo. It has a V8 sticker on the back but is it a Stage 1 ?

Went to three holes with my old 2.25 nice small site but I spent most of the day trying to get my truck out of one of them holes. Yes, although a fairly small site it's got some interesting bits and can be deceptively tricky. This one is my other Landy stuck in a hole there on an earlier visit. htt...

Hi Basil, Welcome to the forum. It's good to hear that there's a source for a decent quality chassis - mine needed some patching and a replacement outrigger this year which hopefully will last a while but the time may come when it's better to go for a replacement than patch it up. I agree with you r...

It's dark outside so I just looked at the parts book and those hoses connect to a couple of short down-turned pipes under the wing. I don't really see how they can be vacuum, since they're connected to the adaptor on the inlet side of the carbs rather than the manifold side. One thing that does occu...
