Dave What are you talking about the stage 1 gear knob doesnt have a retainer ring (they have a rubber sleeve on them) and no they are not the same as a Series 3. If you are talking about the gear leaver and the retaining ring that is retained by 3 bolts on the top of the gearbox then they are also c...

Yes all gear ratios in high will change

Robert
If you put the stage 1 high range transfer gears in the RR Box the problem will go away.
A RR Transfer had from memory a 1:1 ration and your stage 1 had 1.336:1
You dont have to pull the box out it can be done in situ

The Stage1 only came in 109 inch in Australia with no dual cabs if you have found one its a bastard that isnt a bad thing but not a factory job.
$4500 would need to be a tidy one they are much cheaper as a rule

Dont see why not but it will be a pain in the future when you change the
drive flange whereas the bolt needs no specifically machined parts.

Mind you my drive flanges are not worn after 28 years so maybe this is not an issue.

If you look at Jeff Carters books from the 1970s he did it and it supposedly had its benefits.
In the Outback we use to remove duellies on the back of trucks so we could use them in sand.
