Could be the distributor. It's right at the front of the engine and vulnerable in those sort of conditions. In the Brit Army our V8s have always had waterproofed dissys for that very reason.

Hi Horst, I have now run my very early (1983 - so engine-wise not that different from Stage 1s) 110 V8 on LPG for just over 1000 miles.
