I've got to agree with Stirl - LPG is the way to go. Even at £0.49.9/litre (my local), better still at £0.47.7/litre (15 miles away), my weekly fuel bill is the same as for my wife's Fiat Panda ! And that's with a daily 22 mile round trip to work as well as the weekends. :D

FAIREY OVERDRIVE FOR LT95 - LINKAGE WANTED

I am planning to fit an overdrive to my '83 110 V8. Have got a good unit (thanks Stage 1 Fun !), but it has Range Rover linkage. I know that Landrover linkages for this unit are like rocking horse *** :( , but has anybody got any good ideas about where I could find one ? Failing that, drawings accur...

Can't tell you if anyone has done exactly that. The space is where military LRs have a locker for jerrycans (takes 2 x 20l) or an APU to run the aircon in SNATCH armoured LR in hot countries. The only issues with more than one tank are complexity (but thats not too bad) and hence cost - which only y...

Seems to be a problem with Part 2 of the 90/110 Manual ?

Richard, Checked & re-checked my maths (not my strong suit !) and that's what it came out at over 1044 miles of mixed bag driving. Could be because I mostly start from cold on petrol and switch to gas after about a mile. It will start on gas when cold, but runs as though (were it petrol) it was ...

Have just re-done the mpg calculations on LPG over the last 1000 miles. Much better than I thought - 17.54mpg ! :D Should mean that I would get about 20 off petrol, but use it so little that it is hard to work out accurately.

I'm interested in your overdrives. I have a 4 speed LT95 on my (very early) '83 110, but had been told that it was not suitable to work with an O/D. I presume my box must be pretty similar to those on Stage 1s - so what O/D works and where can I get hold of one ?

Jon, Sorry - grossly unfair generalisation. But if you had seen some of the p******s driving in Kent in winter you would be amazed; 5 1/2 hours from Dover to Maidstone, anyone ?! :x The A9 experience, now that they have modernised it, is not what it once was. More danger of the Polis catching you sp...

Dante, I've asked our REME (your RAEME equivalent) guys. There's no manufacturer identified in the parts list and the only part numbers are NSN (NATO Stock Numbers) - not a lot of use in Oz. Sorry mate ! I have occasionally seen covers advertised in the LR mags and if I see one soon, I'll post detai...

The Haynes Manual on early Range Rovers covers this and gives good directions on how to service this valve.

Baz, Thanks. Haven't tried priming twice and will give it a go. I can usually start her down to 0 degrees C (bit colder here, Stirl, than in Oz - unless you live on the top of Mt Koziusko !), but she then overfuels, stinks of gas & backfires on the overrun until the temp gauge shows some movemen...
