I am in the middle of changing over my gearbox for a RR one that I have purchased and it seems that the Stage 1 output flange and housing are both different to that on the RR, thus I am having to swap them over. The Stage 1 housing is about and inch longer and the flange is much larger. hope this he...

I have finally decided to swap my box over for the one that's been taking up room in my garage, the current one in the landy is very noisy (layshaft bearings). The replacement is out of a Range Rover, a few bits are different and need changing over, but it all seems fairly straightforward. Does anyo...

Electronic Ignition

Has anyone ditched their points for electronic ignition and how easy/cheap is it to do? I am not sure how much play, if any should be present on the distributor shaft, as I certainly feel a bit. I have seen a kit on Ebay to convert the dizzy for around £20 but am I wasting my money? Also how easy is...

If you need some help, I have just used a company called 'Dave Mac's propshafts' in coventry. They have just rebuilt a prop for my Renault. They were a most helpful bunch and come highly recommended.

Ollie, I did this a few months ago, its not too difficult and the one I put on was as yours is, a Britpart item. Firstly drain off the old tank, but beware, they hold a fair bit of fuel (don't rely on the gauge) and have a large recepticle! Give your new tank a couple of coats of Hammerite to keep t...

Nice Stage 1, you should ditch the plastic grille though for the mesh one as per Stage 1's, they won't think its a defender then!

Yes, I have had problems with them when ordering a replacement fuel tank. I spoke with the stores bloke as the tank I needeed was the one for a 6 cyl. He knew the one that I was on about and had a new old stock one at the back of the stores, I couldn't order it over the phone (Another pain), it had ...

Fuel Tank again...................ARGHHHHHHHHHH

Having spoken to the parts manager at LR parts, I was advised that some stage 1's do indeed have the different tanks as fitted to the 6 cylinders, as they ran out of the tanks for the stage 1's during production. They apparently had one on the shelf to fit and it was duly ordered. Wrong tank turns u...

Replacement fuel tank

After a bit of advice as I need to replace my fuel tank. The crud and rust on the inside keeps blocking up the main filter and causing it to lose power. I have taken it off and compared it to the ones in the on-line parts catalogue and the one on mine is the same as part no NRC8727 ie for a 6 cyl 2....

Martin,

Good looking truck you have there, whereabouts are you?

I'd be interested to hear about your gearbox woes, Mine is like you described and I suspect it to be the layshaft bearings as its quiet with the clutch depressed.
What did you do to get it sorted, and was it costly?

Ta,

Matt.
