http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb241/jamie_grieve/PC111582.jpg This is a page from the Santana PS10 (Iveco Massif) parts book. Of interest is No 8 which is the swivel assy to mount a caliper to. Now you guys in NZ get the Iveco Massif and the parts backup this might be a legal, cheap and useful...

Pair of axles

I've got a pair of axles for sale or swap in South Lanarkshire if anyones interested. No problems, brakes and drums all good. Rear axle has extra spring perches welded on for a SWB. I put Santana axles on is the only reason I'm selling them.

20mm doesn't sound much. You need to have enough room for both wheels to come up on full bump and compress into the bump stop. Really you want enough clearance as if there was no bumpstop at all. They are only glued on anyway. One wheel up puts the other one down and the bit in the middle isn't movi...

Looks good but from here it looks like you'll need more clearance for the drive shaft above the axle. I've got a bracket bolted to the sump and if I ever get my camera to talk to the computer I'll post some pics. Basically you need as much clearance as between the axle and the chassis. Next, does yo...

On a 1 hr motorway run I get 18-20 mpg. Stop start 4 mile runs I get about 12-14. Off road, messing around, 30 mins/gal. Strombergs, 3.9litre, standard gearing, 900x16 tyres. 95Ron petrol. My Volvo gets nearly 12mpg (4Km/l) on a good day  It's my daily driver while I fix the stage 1!

Maybe it would be easier to get the parts from an old Range Rover in Portugal with the same LT 95 gearbox? Maybe even swap the whole gearbox might be easier? Remember the front output on your Landrover is different to the Range Rover so you will need to swap that over. Bearmach are very good for par...

I forgot the most obvious thing on the v8 dizzy. How much play is in it and how much can you open and close the points just by moving the shaft?

Hey there, I'm gonna second Mrs Bingham on the HT contacts not lining up with the rotor arm when the points open. It's a common, not obvious thing. Set the dwell first using the hex adjuster on the front of the distributer with the engine running. 27 deg, or 62% in old money but not to be confused w...

I see only one photo and just the link to the next. Is there some strange ritual I need to perform to make it happen? I'm not that used to all this uploading malarky.
Cheers.

My take on a stage 1

Hello there folks! Great to see there's a forum for stage 1's. I've had mine since '91 and didn't know this place existed. I've been looking at some projects past and present on here and hats off to some great work guys. I rebuilt mine whilst studying engineering at uni 16 yrs ago and in all that ti...
