The original wiring for the coil and dizzy shoule be white and white + black via the ballast resistor and a single wire to the dizzy. Trying to get hold of a workshop manaul for the year of vehice it all came from and have a look at the wiring diagram is probaly the best bet.

The 1 ton rims in the photo are exactly what's required I think. They will keep the wagon looking original but a lot beefier. The next question of course is how easy are they to get hold of?
Secondhand - Not very!

New - Very easy £38.50+vat from paddocks

Are the 1 ton rims the ones with holes round the outside? If you mean these: http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DEFENDER/*SPECIAL_OFFERS*/images/bup1041.jpg Then no, they are "wolf" wheels as used on the MOD defenders. 6.5" wide so 1" wider than LWB rims but not a lot of offset so ...

Re: Wheels, Tyres, offsets etc.

The questions I have are: 1) Do you have to specify an offset for Modular or 8 spokes? If so, what it the best offset to have the tyres fill out the arches? No they are all the same offset. I had 8 spoles with 235/85R16's on my 88 Which filled the arches perfectly 2) Is there a downside to fitting ...

I changed my dizzy to a RR electronic one but it only had 2 wires and they went to each side of the coil. You dont need the lumenition box anymore and I am guessing that the 3 wires are +ve, -ve and tacho signal

Do any of the dizzys shown here look like the one you have?

I spent years looking for one and never found one. I toyed with the idea of making one as its only a few bent metal rods and a pivot but in the end just used the range rover linkage. I had already removed the centre seat and just cut a slot in the panel for the lever to come through.

I had 33" tyres on my 88 for a while. Willing to be proved wrong but I am pretty sure you can get away with 33's with out a lift as long as you have springs that are in good condition. The tyres might get a bit close a full flex! Re shocks and springs, OME's are great and have I never heard any...

The Suspension- I would like to get about 2" of lift out of it, so I can fit it with larger tires. What size tyres are you thinking? You should be able to fit 33" tyres in without any suspension lift. The Truck- I will be installing a winch bumper and winch, a swing away rear tire carrier...

I replaced my old and very worn points dizzy with an electronic one I bout on ebay for about £20.

All I had to do was figure out the wiring and replace the coil with a 12V one and it ran great.

Dont forget that the LT95 transferbox is part of the gearbox and not swappable The tallest gears in an LT230 is from a 3 speed auto range rover at 1.1003:1 http://www.ashcroft-transmiss...
