Re: Restoration

If you are considering leaving the standard factory carb set up I offer up the Holley Sniper throttle body fuel injection kit for consideration. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_injection/sniper_efi/sniper_2300_2bbl/ No, it is not cheap. But it appears very simple to install and is ...

Re: Dumb irons

Yes to what was said above - Standard Series 3 dumb irons are different than Stage One bits. If you were handy with sheet metal fabrication, you might be able to use the Series 3 bits as a starting point that you hack-up and rebuild. The parts like the spring hangers are the same and I think the out...

Re: Weber 4-barrel conversion

I have an Edelbrock Performer 4bbl carb installed on my 3.5 V8 motor. It has worked really well and I have about 10 years of road time on it. The photo does not show the install too well due to the fat old air cleaner - but nevertheless - there it is. Edelbrock.JPG The carb is a little big for the s...

Re: Stuck on diff lock?

Here is a photo of the bits I was working on. From left to right.... Rear output shaft and housing, Centre Diff assembly (planetary gears live inside this assembly towards the left hand side), and the front output shaft and housing. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/834/43467241011_b812b1e978_c.jpg The...

Re: Stuck on diff lock?

Just an update.... spring shackle u-bolts replaced and truck taken for a few short test drives. All 4 wheels are rotating like they should and no binding on tight corners. As an added bonus - the center diff lock is shifting better than ever. If I am sitting still, I can actually hear it move with a...

Re: Stuck on diff lock?

Finally.... Finally, I was able to find some time to work on my truck. I took out the center differential assembly and bits like this started to fall out. I think this confirms that the planetary gears and shaft have been damaged. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1795/42117810645_702d0a76ac_c.jpg The ...

Re: Stuck on diff lock?

Nice link to the transmission manual. It should prove helpful. I downloaded a photo I took of the oil pan when I drained the oil from the gearbox. The oil pan was brand new from the store - so this was the first oil to every get dumped in it. The results confirm what I already knew. :( https://farm1...

Re: Stuck on diff lock?

I was finally able to find some time to work on this. I pulled the shifting mechanism and all is good. I am able to peek (barely) inside the shifting area of the centre diff and I can see the shifting collar moves freely back and forth but the front and rear shafts are fixed together (rotate togethe...

Re: Stuck on diff lock?

Yes - plunger moves - light goes on an off. I think it is inside the centre-diff. What I really need is a few days off where I can catch up on household chores and make dedicated time to take a crack at this with some wrenches. I have been on solid business travel for two week. It pays the Land Rove...

Stuck on diff lock?

My center diff lock plungers moves back and forth and the indicator light on the dash turns on and off as it should with the movement of the center diff lock switch. But.... the diff is still locked no matter what. I have jacked the wheels up and confirmed positive lock between the different axles (...

Re: Chassis

I am not sure where the OP is located ... but there is a custom galvy coil spring rolling chassis for sale in Northern Virginia USA. I bought a new galvy chassis from Richards in the UK and had it shipped to me in Virginia. It was a bit of a bother to get it imported. Several of the mounting bracket...
