Drew, glad you found your way on here. Despite collecting a 2nd hand chassis from John Roach http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/qq272/JohnRoachStage1/Ben%20Collects%20Chassis/DSC01728.jpg closer investigation revealed it was going to need extensive patching, beyond my capabilities. Still waiting for...

Only went for £1600, that's £250 less than the cost of a galvanised chassis. If only I had the space/time/money!

Solved the problem of no rear wiper by opening the top flap, also cooled me slightly seeing as I got a bit of a sweat on...... Reversing is a problem since the front wheels didn't want to leave the ruts to steer the rear wheels and the track has a large drop to one side and a tight railway bridge. I...

I've posted some piccies of mine in the photos section. Think I managed about 7.5 mpg. Everywhere had no LPG so I brimed my fuel tank expecting to run out of gas. Sure enough this happened and about 6 miles down the road the fuel line split spraying petrol everywhere and getting me a ride on a break...

Stage 1 SW being broken

Just had contact with someone through ebay who is breaking a Stage 1 SW. I think he wants the front axle but if anyone has anything they're after you might want to drop George an email on:

You don't ask questions about fuel consumption and drive a Stage 1 it's wrong! Fair point, I think it might be lacking power then! If you have fitted a Range gearbox, you have to look at the ratio. Maybe you have overgeared. I did the same, and fitted a RR box with 0,9:1 ratio. The car had bad acce...

Fuel consumption

Running on LPG mine returns ~12mpg driving 25 mile each way journeys into the Peak District (on road) and once hit the heady heights of 15.5mpg on the motorway at 60. Does this sound reasonable? It no longer has a roofrack and has michelin xzy tires so not too much rolling resistance. It has a lumin...

you must be chuffed to be back on the road A Very chuffed. Don't know whether it was because it had sat for two months, or just a heavy right foot but it returned 10.5 mpg (on LPG) including some laning this weekend. Normal for me is 12-14 mpg. Think camshaft may be moving up list of priorities.

Eventually got the brakes working on mine :D :D I fitted a speedo out of a Triumph Herald (bought for less than £10 from eblag) which I believe to be 1000 tpm. Anyway it underreads by ~10 % (i.e. when i'm doing 40 it reads 36 mph). Better than it was.

Think 1970s RR ran on 16/235 tyres rather than 16/750s so may again not read correctly. Don't know what tpm RR speedos are or whether they would fit.

It is easy to swap the cog out? To swap the cog involves removing the handbrake and then the rear output shaft. I took the broken box supplied with mine apart and got the cog out fairly easily. The workshop manual does mention that everything must be reshimmed when reassembled if anything (e.g. spe...
