Re: Auxiliary dash panel
There's no closing panels on mine although I do have a rubber strip either side that stops you from cutting yourself on the sharp edge. Whether that is original or not remains to be seen but see no evidence to suggest the latter. When I did my upgrade the wires were tidied in such a way that nothing...

Re: Auxiliary gauges
I like to know what's going on so I installed this in mine
Only two wires needed to run under the bonnet - one for the rev counter and one for the oil temp. The oil press was already there.

Re: Hazard wiring
Maybe too late with this but the hazard lights were an optional extra (believed standard on the V8). You need a 607698 wiring harness. This plugs straight to the existing loom therefore no butchering skills required. There is one for sale in the link below but it looks like you still need to source ...

Re: Station Wagon Side Doors
I can't say whether the anti burst locks will fit a regular Series door - I suspect not without modification as the latch mechanism is quite a bit bigger, thus may have different hole spacings etc. There is also different a door card (if fitted). As far as the County doors are concerned, I can't see...

Re: Ok, i may be going to buy a stage one (Pics)
Hi and welcome, An unusual look which I think is great In my humble opinion and if you are mechanically savvy and interested in proper Land Rovers, then you should without a doubt buy it (but I don’t know what US prices command). Don’t be too put off by the unique parts. They do crop up now and ag...

Re: stage 1 ambulance
There is a W reg Stage1 ambulance kicking around which I last saw on the L2B run in 2009. It has a very similar body but it doesn't look like it was built by the same conversion company. Last I heard is that it got sold a couple of years ago when it was owned by a historic rescue group. I suspect it...

Re: Viscous Fan Clutch - how stiff is yours?
For what it is worth the action of your viscous coupling sounds exactly the same as mine and I have no cooling issues at all even when towing, although I appreciate that in Blighty we don’t drive around in 90 degree temperatures :D I thought my fan was too stiff say compared to cars I’ve owned in th...

Re: 3 tonne station wagon
I can't remember where but I read somewhere ages ago that Land Rover cocked up a load of spec sheets during manufacture and some batches of 109's (not specifically V8's) got the wrong weight data applied to them thus the V5 and VIN plates are wrong. It usually causes a problem when it comes to the M...

Re: 88" Stage 1 (No Such Animal?)
If it was the real deal then the seller would be shouting it from the roof tops. 1 Ton axles!!! and the wheels on this one look like regular LWB rims. I guess a walk round it would confirm it.
Looks a nice beast though

Re: 88" Stage 1 (No Such Animal?)
Most likely a rebuild using some Stage1 parts - that's how it reads to me
