Glen, The chassis is very good, at some point prior to my ownership it has had a new rear cross member and the previous owner repaired the bulkhead with new panels on the corners and new hinge posts so it is all very solid. I have spent a lot of time making it a nice useable Land Rover. If you need ...

Sadly for sale

The time has come for me to part with my Landy, I just don't have the time to tinker with it like I used to and running three vehicles is getting beyond a joke! I have put it on this website http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C286499 rather then Ebay and I think I have priced it reasonably. Hopefull...

Hi, The only other method of establishing the chassis number might be to do an HPI check as though you were buying a second hand car. I imagine that this sort of check would provide you with both the chassis and engine number as well. It will obviously cost you a few quid unless you have a contact i...

Have you got some pictures of it as mine too is an ex police. Its ex West Midlands and the number plate is two lower than the one that Seb probably mentions. I have repainted parts of mine as it needed new doors and I ended up contacting 'the paint man' based in Birmingham. He managed to mix up a pe...

Head Gasket - Composite or Tin

Having got the top end apart to change the camshaft, I have decided to whip off the heads and re-seat the valves. Which gasket is the preferred choice. It seems that the composite is a better long term item, however it lowers the compression ratio on an engine with an already low ratio. Any advice w...

Hi,
If you have not had any luck yet, I would suggest these guys, http://www.davemacprops.com/DMPHOME.html they are extremely helpful and I would think that they will be able to re-build the prop to a much higher standard than a cheap aftermarket job and for less money!

Camshaft Replacement

I am going to change the camshaft in the near future as it is giving all the signs of needing it. Just looking to hear from anyone who has changed one with the engine in-situ for any tips that they may have or things to watch out for, as it looks reasonably straightforward. I was going to buy a kit ...

There's nothing wrong with lurking, I see it has featured on the LLOR forum as well. Despite the gearbox problems, it looks like you got a good buy there, When I bought mine, the gearbox was very noisy and like you, I changed it for a RR one. Its now like having an overdrive in 4th and cruises much ...

This has come up before and somebody suggested that the heater valve for a MK1 Golf will fit. I have not looked at one to see but if it works, it will be cheaper and easier to locate.

Hi Nicholas, Welome to the forum. Having looked at your pictures, you have a nice looking SW there, if it were me, I wouldn't paint it, it will cost you money and may affect the re-sale in the future, people like originality. Give it a good cut and polish! You are right, the gear knobs over here are...
