Re: Toy/ model

I remember seeing a photograph of, IIRC, a station wagon. Or it might have been a ute cab.

Re: Restoration

Good effort, regardless. I've never galvanised something like that before, so I have no suggestions. But it seems sensible to slip a bolt in there. But I am sure someone with experience will tell me why it's a bad idea. Here's some useful advice on the subject. http://az276019.vo.msecnd.net/va...

Re: Restoration

What did you use for the complex concave curve? Just a hammer and anvil or a press of some sort?

When you have it galved, will you stick a bolt into the captive nuts?

Re: Restoration

Well, I am impressed by what you are doing. The folding on the centre repair looks the bees knees.

Re: Southern Electric Stage 1 V8s

Great winches, Ramsey. I have a Thomas that was electric and now PTO. It is essentially Ramsey copy.

Looks pretty custom, so I doubt one would buy one off the shelf.

Re: Southern Electric Stage 1 V8s

The roof rack and bumper would have to be fabricated, as were the originals. Presumably, the roof rack was aluminium? The bumper is certainly sturdy galvanised steel with aluminium checker plate.

Was the winch hydraulic? I can't even tell what the brand is.

Re: NEW Stage 1 Project

Hi,

Welcome aboard. Yeah, you have something that is a bit special and rare.

I didn't know that part of the story. That would be why I never saw any of those vehicles in their correct livery. :!:

Yours also has a few modifications that do not exist in the 109s.

Cheers

Re: Restoration

Nice. Good idea about doing it that way. It is how we were taught to do it in our metal classes :)

Re: Bonnet underside

Dunno. It's on a Stage 1 and it was put there when new. It is ex-army so I don't know if there is any difference with civilian models.

Re: Heat shields

You guys made me laugh loudly. The early 110 book has detailed diagrams for all the engines including the V8 (looks completely different) The blank page in my (expensive) paper copy of the Optional Equip. book has printed across it in bold type 'This page is intentionally left blank' !!! WHY?!? TO D...
